How are you checking your sugars at those levels? were you hospitalized for the pineapple juice and vodka incident? My meter says "Hi" if it's above 600, so I honestly couldn't give you a "highest number"

Can't compete with you lot - a mere 450 with an hba1c of 17 at diagnosis, and that caused enough hysteria in my doctor when he got the result.

I was 313 the other night b/c we went out to eat and I didn't remember to add more bolus for the cheesecake. (Had to give 4 extra bolus units and that was only half of a piece of cheesecake I shared w/ mom since were both diabetic and shes doing the Jenny Craig thing)

Then last night I took too much for dinner and was 61. I knew I felt a little light headedish or just not right and came home from dropping off my friend and was like yup I am right. I drank a 35g Gatorade and was 94 later and felt low when I woke up at 6am had a few chugs of juice and went back to bed and woke up at 93.
Talk about to complete opposites.

I wish I had the same problems mine tend to run higher than i would like. When mine was 940 i felt like absolute @#$&@#$. When i got the the hospital and they found out i drove there all their jaws hit the floor... I lost over 30 lbs in 4 days from that little episode. and spent three days in the hospital, I still can't drink pineapple juice.

Pineapple Juice debacle

So, you are all telling me to get rid of the large can of pineapple juice in my cupboard? I didn't buy it; it came in our food basket. Guess we have to tell them we are diabetic now. And I was so looking forward to having some of it. Patience

No you can keep the pineapple i used to drink two of the little cans for lunch before my "stupidity." I was sick for several days before i went to the hospital, never occured to me that i might be high blood sugar because the symptoms were different from when i was diagnosed at 840 and back then i VERY RARELY tested myself. I have even had some pineapple juice sense, it still tastes good, it just remembering what i did through my stupidity that keeps me from drinking it now. Life is one long learning experience and what does not kill you hopefully only makes you smarter.

I was diagnosed at 153 but had been insulin resistant from PCOS for many years before that.

In the next year or so I wasn't careful what I ate and remember spiking to over 300 and for the next few days, I was SO sick. Dry as a bone, drinking constantly, feeling like **** and I swore I would never, ever let it get to that point again. That was 12-13 years ago and I think the highest I've been since then was 180 fasting, and that was when I had the flu.

I haven't checked my sugar in about 4 weeks or so and already had breakfast, so will check tomorrow, but I'm sure it's right around 140.

My A1C has never been higher than 6.5 and was 6.1 last time I saw the doctor (ok, not a real doctor, just the nurse practitioner).

Well keep in mind that the debacle he is speaking of was with pineapple juice and VODKA. Liquor complicates everything.

I find pineapple juice to be the PERFECT hypo fix. if you want it and you're not low, it does have carbs, but if you bolus you'll be fine.
