Cure on the horizon?

From the research front...

An recent study conducted in the US found that injecting T1 diabetic mice with with spleen cells not only stopped the progression of diabetes, but also worked to regenerate beta cells in the pancreas.

Check out the story below

Well, colour me cynical, but I think I'll take this one with a grain of salt and believe it when I see it in human subjects...

Cure on the horizon?

Interesting,

especially since I don't have a spleen any more

I wonder if that's part of the reason I have this stinkin' disease?

Anybody ever notice that when you're traveling that the horizon is always there?

Meaning that you never get to it.

It would seem to make sense since the spleen is an important part of the disease fighting system in our bodies. Could a malfunctioning spleen be the reason the immune system attacks the beta-cells?

Ever since I became a diabetic 12 years ago, I heard and read articles saying the CURE is on the horizon. I have learned to take these stories with a grain of salt. I believe we are 10 - 15 years away from finding a cure, but that is my opinion.

My mother had diabetes from the time I was a small child. I have heard all my life that the cure is 5-10 years away. Like Oradev, I've had it for 12 years. Seems to me it should have been here by now.

I keep hoping, though.................
