| | | Brian...your idea worked. I had to run earlier and couldn't wait for my computer to reboot. It worked though and my results are supposedly uploading now as I type this.
Shane...I had to install the .NET framework because the aplication hung. Also...it ONLY works in IE and not Firefox. In Firefox, which is the browser I use 99.9% of the time, it wouldn't work, and that was my first problem. I didn't know this was an IE only program them.
Cyborg...It has USB support. A USB port is a com port. On my computer it was Com 5 from the drop down menu. I had to try each option to find one that worked. SO there's no need for a converter or anything. Just have to find the right com port that the USB operates through.

| | | Shane....HUGE PROBLEM....I uploaded my 3000+ results from my ultrasmart. However, there's NOT A SINGLE result past 12:30 pm in my diagrid. I was puzzled for a second and then I looked at all my results in the past week and then in the 15 day thing and the latest result is 12:26 pm.

| | | Great to hear it worked Kevin!
I'll have to look in to why the .Net 2.0 dependency was not checked.
Also, for those of you with USB cables, make sure they are plugged in to your USB port before you run the app. As Brian mentioned, the USB cables are in reality USB-Serial converters, that don't show up as a COM port until plugged in and installed. The application scans for COM ports on startup, so if the cable isn't plugged in to the USB port on start, it won't know the COM port is there. I can add a "Refresh Ports" option to the dropdown so if one forgets to plug in the cable first, they don't have to re-start the application to use the port.
RE: Firefox support, I'm not sure if that will be forthcoming. While the application is indeed a Windows application, it uses the Microsoft .Net ClickOnce deployment method so that 1: Folks dont have to install an application that stays on their hard drive. 2: I don't have to write auto-update code to check for more recent versions of the application on start. With ClickOnce, you always get the most recent, updated version of the application when you start it.

(i.e., could this be a time zone issue?)

It's not finding a difference in AM vs. PM. THis may also be because I have my UltraSmart set up in 24 hour time instead of AM vs. PM. So if my result is 16:03 which is 4:03 pm...it shows up as 4:03 AM. There are no results showing past 13:00 which is 1:00 pm. I'm not sure if this is because I use 24 hour time or if this is actually a program error in that it doesn't see PM times.
I also noticed another interesting feature. All of the reults that show in the bottom table as AM results instead of PM ARE NOT showing up in the diagrid. So that result with the 16:03 shows up in the table below, but not in the Diagrid at the top.
Also, when I hover the mouse over a diagrid result, it shows the time and the result, but they ALL have the same date of 05/01 no matter which data point I hover over.
If you have another way to talk Shane I'd love to help troubleshoot some more. THis way will just get old fast.

| | | I plugged in the usb cable to the PC, then to the meter. Then I turned on the meter and then I started the software. I left the com port selection on Auto Select and attempted the download, but my meter was not found. When I went to select a com port, only COM1 was listed (my serial connection). Did I do something wrong?
I'll try again on a different computer and I'll also try with a different meter...

I am having the same problem. Only Com ports 1 and 3 are listed, and the meter is "not found." When I upload into a different program, it works fine. Is it because I am trying to upload my Freedom meter instead of Flash? |

Is it because I am trying to upload my Freedom meter instead of Flash? | I thought is was user error Shane, but I am having the same problem with both Flashes (pre PC on display and on).
The Freedom hasn't been tested, but from what I have read it uses the same protocols as the flash.
Has anyone told you, you are the man Shane? Cause you are! |

| | | Well.. the flash stuff I won't be able to test for now until someone sends me a flash that doesn't turn on right awat when plugged in..
Cyborg, not sure why you aren't seeing the COM port that your onetouch cable should present to the program.. are the drivers installed for the USB cable?

I have older ones that doesn't do that. Last time I tried I couldn't get it to work. I'll try again and report back. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
