Fattening foods

Some of you type 2 people say you're overweight. What in the world do you eat? Are there some things you can eat a lot of? I'm 5' 4" and weigh 111. Seems nothing I eat is fattening. Even a second slice of bread on a sandwich makes my bs go too high. I'm probably going to have gallbladder surgery soon and I really need to gain some weight. I'd appreciate soom suggestions.

Marcia

I'm an overweight T2, though I have been able to lose some since giving up bread, potatoes, pasta and the like. I eat a low-carb diet, lots of chicken, lean beef, salads, tuna, bunless burgers. I have a lot of insulin resistance, so it's very easy for me to gain weight.

Guess if you wanted to gain weight, you could up the portion size of what you usually eat, maybe supplement with some of the high-protein/low carb shakes like EAS makes (available at Walmart). Also, eat more nuts and cheese, which are higher in fat (but, if you have gallbladder problems, eating more fat certainly isn't going to help those symptoms).

Protien is proberbly your only option for gaining weight. Low fat meats ie chicken, pork and fish. Nuts and cheese would be good but the fats may cause problems with your gallbladder.

Thanks. I'm going for a sonagram on the 8th. Maybe they will remove the gallbladder. The CAT scan showed multiple gallstones so I guess they will do something.

Oh Marcia, how have you got on? I really hope they didn't remove your gall bladder. If you have stones they can be zapped these days with laser treatment. Having the gall bladder removed is a pretty drastic thing. Let me know how you have managed.
