| | | Many people reading your article may be tempted to replace the salt with low salt products. I think it is important to mention that these products are often extremely high in potassium.
There may be a danger with this for some people.
There are several medical conditions which predispose to the development of hyperkalaemia through impairing renal excretion of potassium. Also People taking angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, and potassium sparing diuretics (as are many people with diabetes) may be susceptible. Large quantities of non steroidal anti inflammatories, such as those taken by people with arithrits may also lead to too much potassium.
There is a tiny print health warning on my (French) packet of lo salt but it merely says that people who follow a low salt diet should seek medical advice. |

| | | I made some changes from a technical editor's perspective (punctuation, grammar, etc.). I know that doesn't add much in the way of content, but it's fun for me!

| | I noticed that when you mentioned food naturally containing sodium, you mentioned beets, celery, and milk. Later in the article you gave examples of "low sodium" foods to chose, and of those foods listed, beets, celery, and milk were present...confusing.

Just because they contain sodium doesn't mean it is a lot--it was just making the point that it occurs naturally in many foods. At least, that's my interpretation.
