Nintendo Wii and Exercise

Hello all!

Today at the gaming convention formerly known as E3, Nintendo has announced that they are producing a game called WiiFit that comes with an exercise pad. Check out this link and see a blog from when the announcement was made. There are other things discussed here too, so you will have to scroll down a bit.

I have been playing Wii Sports pretty regularly since I got my Wii. I honestly think this might help me in my exercise plan even more.

Just watching E3 coverage now on G4 TechTv. Missed the Wii piece, but they just showed a lady hoolahooping with it.

I can believe that it will be a workout: after playing a few rounds of boxing with the kids on it my arms hurt so much that I KNEW how bad of shape I'm in!

Don't forget Dance Dance Revolution and the Playstation. ANother great workout. To bad most kids would rather spend 3 hours playing shooter games instead of outside or active inside games. But that's another topic.

I totally get tennis arm after playing Wii tennis, I love that game. But the boxing is what tires me out, all that flailing!

I absolutely love DDR for exercise! I don't love that my husband downloaded it for PC use and taught the kids how to play it on the keyboard...they were getting a ton of exercise, now not so much. Though after this week, I'm going to be sure to tell my kids to go outside and play more. They've had a blast!

As for me, I had to stop playing DDR when my lungs started to get bad. I'm hoping to find out for sure what's wrong in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to get back to some sort of exercise!

This is a big part of my son's hockey training. A couple of years ago my daughter was going at it and I slapped a heart monitor on her: 206! Awesome workout.

Doc also told him to play video games sitting on a swiss ball. It will strengthen the small muscles in the back.

I sell Wii's at my store, and I had a lady "complain" that she had to get out of her chair to play the games, so she didn't like it...

The Wii is going into a lot of elderly care facilities because they can exercise at their own pace.
The Wii is also coming out with a yoga mat this fall. The mat is suppose to tell if you are leaning on the right part of your body. I think someone is trying to adapt the technology to skateboarders and snowboarders
