Update on Team Type-1

Fellow DF members:

A while back I reported that a friend, Ed Beamon, is now the director of Team Type-1 and we were excited to hear about it. Well, they are competing in the Tour of Langkawi (Malaysia) and are doing quite well.

Bicycle stage racing (multiple day races) have many different competitions within the overall race. Here is where Team Type-1 is right now:

They have one rider in sixth place in the overall (General Classification) race. He is Matt Wilson (Aus).

What is more impressive, and speaks to the fact that bicycle racing is a team sport, is that they are tied for first in the teams competition. (That means that the time for the first three members of the team added together is the shortest total time on the road.)

For a racing team that was limited to RAAM (Race Across AMerica) to be out on their first international race these results are impressive and they are getting a lot of press. Given their name and the fact that they have certified diabetic racers speaks volumes.

Ed hasn't yet told me about team kits but when I have information I will share it. Linda and I will definately be sporting their colors as soon as we can get them.

It is too bad that they will not be competing in the Tour of California next week, but they cannot be in two places at one time.

That's awesome, Ronin! I haven't been following the Tour of Langkawi much (truthfully, I think i forgot that it was this month!). What's their next race after Langkawi?

Looking forward to info about team kits when you hear something from Ed- thanks in advance!
