GFX I think you're too hard on yourself! You're doing great. What a brilliant idea to get off your bum every hour. It may seem little to you, but *everything* counts.

Another helpful hint... Just jiggle! When you're sitting at the computer, move a leg. Wiggle a foot. Make circles with an arm. Everything you do is giving a few muscles some movement, some practice, and a reminder that it feels good to move

No need to push yourself. Do what feels right now, and take it easy - move up to walks around the block or an exercise machine *when* you're feeling up to it.

I know it's easier said than done - but don't worry about how you look. Even if someone is looking and thinking negative things about you (which is mostly unlikely and probably just self paranoia, you know that right?) Then you can let them laugh - because you're busy looking after yourself and changing things. Let them see you... because then they can see just how much you've changed when you've reached a goal and you can show off your body to someone who knows what your old body looked like!

How are you doing with the diet side of things? Take small steps there too - and remember to concentrate on avoiding the fast-acting high carb foods as much as possible since they're the important ones for your blood sugar, AND eating less of them helps you lose weight

Yes this is something I'm aware of, every movement I can get is one step closer to building strength. And believe me, I have no trouble at all Jiggling, that happens even when I don't want it to.

It's not way I look that bothers me as much as the running and screaming of hapless citizens...(I tend to have a rather warped and uncooth sense of humour when it comes to just about everything, including my dilemma, so do n't think I'm making light of a serious situation, just think of it as my way of avoiding massive therapy bills. )

OMG I'm supposed to diet!!!?!???? Why does nobody tell me these things?!?!?

Ok so, I don't follow any particular or calculated diet perse, but I do watch my carb intake and avoid fatty and fried foods as much as possible. I'm not really a structured eater, but I'm trying to build up a list of low glycemic foods that compliment my tastes.

This is really an area that I could use some direction in. I know I should probably see a Nutritionist but I have yet to make such an appointment. I tend to try to avoid too many external people involved in my gastronomical escapades. Any suggestions or URLs to explore and research would be greatly appreciated and adored by me.

Gastromically yours,

MMV

Hi All. I am definatley a baby stepper! I went to a show at the Denver Merchandise Mart with my husband today. I was afraid to go because I have been there before and know that the place is huge inside, and there are hardly any places at all to sit down to rest. I have a very difficult time standing or walking for more than a half hour or so at a time...and when I do, the walking during that time is very slow! Well, I decided to go anyway. My husband had been looking forward to this, and I wanted to go for him. We were there for about four hours total. I found a place where I could sit when I needed to near the entrance. I would walk around for as long as I could, and then I would sit for a while, and then get up and walk some more. I did this throughout the whole four hours. I am glad I went, and my bg is glad I went as well I am going to exercise more, dadblastit!!! Cindy

Welcome to our newest "baby steppers"! I have been bummed out since injuring both of my ankles. It really put an end to my new routine of walking 2 miles several days per week. I had my first physical therapy appointment today for my ankles. I will be going 2 days per week. The first few minutes they had me on a stationary bike, so at least that is a little bit of exercise!

So, I am definitely right back to the very beginning of baby steps. Thank you for posting here and returning the favor of motivating me to keep it up! Maybe the "writing the alphabet with my foot" exercise will burn some serious calories! LOL!
