Very well done on your achievement. I have ran heavily myself over the last month and i find it getting easier with every run.

I carry a sugary drink with me at all times. Can i ask if you did the same or carry a carb snack to take at certain intervals?

Outstanding! You ran 8 minute miles for 26 of 'em. It takes real strength to will yourself through such a trial. You have my respect.

Good job. I wish I could do that! How did your bg react the whole time? I don't understand how after the race you could just bolus and eat, wouldn't you need a lot less insulin? Did you drink over a hundred grams of carbs in gatorade? I would be so afraid to have my bg drop after a run like that.

You know, there's wishing and then there's doing. Wishing can be quite lovely in its own right, but it's a faint relation to the doing of something.

Kstreeter got this done by running a lot of miles, by testing his blood sugars and making notes. It's work, it's a lot of work.

And at one time it was only a wish. Work made the difference.

do you wear your pump on the treadmill?

did you train for this marathon ont he treadmill at all? If so did you wear your pump on the treadmill? I'm going to start a pump in June and run on a treadmill throughout the week and am concerned about the vibrations/shock from the treadmil harming the pump operation. Also, I was thinking of wearing either the elg or thigh thing while running but wasnt sure if they'd hold up...any experience with that?

thanks

I can answer part of that one. I've just started using a pump.So far I haven't had any problem with the action of the pump on the treadmill but I have found it uncomfortable on the waistband of shorts. I can feel it there and its annoying Eventually, I think the friction might cause a sore. So far I haven't solved it and have just been putting up with it but for outside I wear a belt with a pouch for meter, glucose etc I clip the pump on that, thats been fine.

Speaking of accomplishments didn't a certain diabetic someone run a century?

We can do anything people without diabetes can do (besides create insulin lol). Unfortunately people have laws in place and mindsets that say differently. If you want to do it, you can achieve it! Good job on the marathon!!!
