Execise Fuel Suggestions

Hi All,

These exercise and carbohydrate guidelines were in a recent edition of Diabetes Self-Management:

"If you intend to do 30 minutes of low-intensity exercise and your blood glucose is lower than 100 mg/dl, eat a snack with 15 grams of carbohydrates before you exercise."

"For 30-60 minutes of moderate intensity exercise with a bg of lower than 100, eat a snack with 20-50 grams of carbs. If your bg is between 100 and 180, eat 10-15 grams of carbs."

"If you plan to do one to two hours of strenuous exercise or activity and your bg is lower than 100 have a snack of around 50 carbs. If your bg is between 100 and 180, eat a snack of 25-50 grams of carbs."

I hope these are useful.

Travis

Very nice, Travis. This makes sense based on my experience as well. Are you a subscriber or do you pick this publication up somewhere? It seems like the mag has some useful info.

ok, how about a streaming video talk show...something like "Ask Gina" or "Gina tells all...about Diabetes."

You could even do your own graphic design for the show. Once it gets big enough, you could maintain your input as Art Director for the show, and hire some designers to help you!!!

Hmm. . .

'GinaTV'?

Statdeac,

I am reading second hand Diabetes Self Management mags from my mother. I used to subscribe but backslid. When her subscription runs out, I may have to get back on the straight and narrow.

Statdeac,

Yea verily! I am a Southern Baptist. One of the SBC kind, even. I still believe in holding them under until they bubble!

I suspected as much. I am United Methodist. We just sprinkle, but don't hold it against me!!!:p

Sorry for the diversion. Any more of this banter and you'll be forced to move this discussion to Chit Chat, right?

Ummm. . .

Considering our denominations are more sedate than many of the Charasmatic faiths, I suppose a move might have to be considered. Were we members of one of the sects with a more 'active' worship style, I guess we could count it as exercise. Is there a Pentecostal in the house?

Travis

(Btw, nothing against Methodists from me Sometimes, it seems that both Methodists and Baptists have enough squabbling among themselves.)
