My way to and from work, which often includes running between transports if one is late. My work, it can be like 8h weightlifting, sometimes with some cardio too. Going to start biking real soon now. And planning to start with ballet within the near future. But right now i don't actually exercise. I get my exercise through what i do in my daily life

Cool Another bicycler

Just started riding around the neighborhood after dinner- Seems to initially drop my BG A LOT ( up to 100 points)! Not sure if it stays here or creeps up ... will keep you all posted!!!

As with everything everyone is different. I was walking on a tread mill at a 3 to 4 mile pace for an hour everyday with the tread mill flat and it was doing me no good for weight loss at all.

I switched to a program on the tread mill that raises and lowers the plat form. I now do 1.5 miles in a half hour and the weight is coming off. So this is working better for me.

I can parse this two ways. In one case you have 20 horses, in the other you have a rare horse with 20 legs.

Let me do the head count...

2.5 stallions/colts (co-own one)
10 mares/fillies
8 geldings

Most of them are minis, but there's one riding horse and one pony in the bunch of 20.5 horses

Jill,

That is quite a brood. I was going to ask for pictures, but now that you've explained it I feel better.

Whatever indoor machine you use, get a cheap tv and old dvd player (try freecycle.org for freebies) and put it nearby. Pop in a dvd of a tv serial you haven't seen (I like anime). Then resolve that you will only watch that tv series when you are working out. It has to be something you really like though.

Also available on freecycle are all sorts of exercise equipment. OK, you're not going to get a $2000 treadmill, but I just recently gave away a stationary bike. My gf got a Gazelle trainer on Craigslist for less than $100.

I absolutely hate indoor exercise of ANY kind. My least favorite was the treadmill. But having something I enjoy watching makes all the difference in the world. I've actually gone an extra lap or 2 (.25 miles) just to see the rest of an episode.

Another thing that really helps is a big 20" box fan. These are dirt cheap - about $13 at Lowes - and make a huge difference. You'll still sweat, but you'll feel better about it.

Last but not least, you're better off breaking your workout into 2 or 3 sessions. This makes it less intimidating than the idea of doing x miles all at one time. Also, you multiply the benefits of the 1-3 hour recovery period afterwards. On the downside, you might not get to the point where you're burning fat rather than glycogen.

I'm really sensitive to exercise so when I do about half hour of a good work out my blood always drops by 100! But now that I'm on the pump it's nice to be able do a temp basal so I don't have to worry about a hypo. I do circut training (muscle) 3 days a week (if I'm perfect and actually DO it) and then I go on walks with my boyfriend or around town for at LEAST half hour but the other day we went on a 2 hour walk/hike! it was super nice.
But when I am good and exercise then my levels will stay good most all of the time...so I really need to stay on top of that...and go probably in an hour or so to the gym!

Goody,

Feeling hypo at 95 is not normal. Do you normally run high? Everyone is different, some people find that aerobic exercise drops their blood sugar and starting near 100 mg/dl might require something to eat. Try a snack (perhap protein as it slowly digests) and see if that helps.

On the other side, I often find my blood sugar rises when I exercise. I can jump 100 mg/dl. If you are high (like 200 mg/dl) it is inadvisable to exercise, wait until you can get your levels normalized.

See if your hypo feelings go away as you become more accustomed to the exercise.

You all may laugh at what I do but it works. I was diagnosed the 1st of July and when I tried to walk outside the mosquitos were killer so I stop every day at a mega grocery store and walk the whole store around and around. I walk pretty much non-stop for 30 to 60 minutes each day. The store is super air conditioned so it is a very comfortable plus pushing the cart is an added bonus. I make a small list everyday and get one item on each round of the store. I estimate the store is 2 blocks long and 1 block deep with about 30 aisles.
The store is not crowded when I go and so far the store does not seem to mind my crazy shopping style!

Curves 3 times a week - I needed to pay for something to make me do it! However now I love the place - I can exercise and daydream at the same time. Since starting this last September, I am fitter than I have ever been in my adult life. I cycle at weekends with my husband. At the moment, I also spend a lot of time working in the garden, having sprayed with Off so that the mosquitoes don't get me.

biking is the best thing ever! period :P goody, ur levels are probably dropping because of the exersise, this may be because of lack of 'background carbs' these are essential to avoid snacking to top up sugar levels, tho snacking is nice unless of course your trying to lose weight! i find after a long ride you can eat pretty much anything and it will just go into restocking my muscles yay
