Looking for a workout buddy

Hey all,
I have started eating better and exercising some (1-2 times a week for 30-45 min) but I'm not getting any results. I've lost 4 lbs in 4 months. I'm needing a change.

I am wondering if there is anyone out there who would like to be an email workout buddy. Just checking in with each other, giving and getting encouragement, etc. I know I can and should work out 4-5 times a week. I'm just having trouble getting and staying motivated.

I am a 25 yo female with T1. I like to walk, follow aerobics videos, and have dusted off my bike recently. My DH and I just got a dog today too so I'm hoping that will help me get out as well.

I am also having trouble staying motivated to exercise. I try to do some type of exercise 30 mins five days a wk. I get bored with the same exercise. I would like to lose a few pounds, but mostly I need the exercise to keep my BS down. When I skip more than one day, my insulin resistance seems to go way up and I need a lot more insulin.

Some days when I am all ready to exercise my BS is just too low. Then if I still try, I end up just eating more food to get it back up and ruin my diet.

I am a T1 who just started an insulin pump this Jan and am still trying to work out the bugs. I was diagnosed at age 12. I have had T1 for almost thirty years and have struggled with my control. I could be the poster child for a "brittle" diabetic.

You may wish to make use of chat for this. Start a virtual workout club maybe

There are often discussion forums with groups that stay connected and accountable to each other. You might try Protein Power Forums - Powered by vBulletin, or the group over at here Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Forum - Login, or here Low Carb Friends.

The best solution would be to find someone geographically close to you with similar fitness interests who you could join in common activities, even if it just walking. Look to your neighbors and co-workers and friends as well.

Hum...

maybe we should do that here. Some of the other forums don't always have the necessary diabetes focus. Finding someone geographically close is ideal, but there are so few diabetic fitness buffs out there that it can be really difficult to hook up with someone.

So, maybe we should start something here as a way to keep in touch with each other, stay accountable, and encourage and support each other in our fitness goals (what ever they are...)

Any takers?

My workout partner is not diabetic, but has similar goals and as I do. I'd be happy to start the same sort of thing here if there is enough interest.

I currently weight train three times a week. I have been using a program called a 5x5 based on compound lifts. I also do some sort of aerobic workout 2-3 times a week, often in the summer, I combine mowing my yard with my aerobics. Believe me, pushing a mower for 3 hours in 90-100 degrees of whether is a test.

I've been working out since Jan. 2006 at Curves for women. I got ~464 work outs going 5x's a week for the most part. I've only missed one full week and gone 6x's a week for the first 6 months every other week.

I really would look into Curves, but I know money is always an issue....maybe ask for a membership for Christmas or a birthday.

The Curves where I live has a system called Curves Smart...it basically is a computer attachemnt to each machine that keeps track of your reps and tells you when your too fast/slow or just right. Its only been here 2 months and I'm loving it.
