Work out. Lift heavy objects. Watch your diet. 6-pack abs are more about how much body fat you are carrying verus how big the ab muscles are. Ab muscles don't get all that big.

And do that consistently. You've got to put work in to get results.

It's annoying as I'm never tempted to exercise, but I want to get fitter, as I'm basically wasting away my free weekends on the internet, looking at videos, playing video games and watching TV, so I really should get out more. Tomorrow, I'll go down to my nearest 400m track and run a few laps, and I'm positive I'm going to do it.

Six-packs are more to do with genetics and bodyfat percentage. Only a small amount of the general population will have their bodyfat distributed in such a way make a sixpack possible in the first place. And even if you're one of the lucky people who hits the right genetic combo, I think you need a bodyfat percentage of under 8%, which is very lean. Also, don't fall into the trap of thinking that crunches will make the fat on your stomach magically go away. Fat burning is not localised, otherwise everyone who ate lots would be overweight but with rock hard, lantern jaws!

But that's still no reason to not exercise, so good for you. Only thing I'd suggest is that, unless you really enjoy running on your own, you find a different form of exercise. If you just pop down your local running track today, make a mental big deal of the fact that you're going there, and run round a few times until you feel shattered, you won't go again. Your brain will fight against your willpower every time. Team sports tend to be more fun since the element of competition keeps things interesting, and there's a social side to it too. But maybe your local track has a running club you could join?

Yeah, I was sort of doubting going on my own. I have an exercise bike here, why didn't I think of that? I could just go on that for half an hour or so, until I go hypo or another reason... silly me!

I'm going to ditch the idea of getting muscular, for now anyway, since I have excess (well, a bit ) flab, it hurts much less when I'm doing my injections in my abdomen, so I'm going to keep to what I am now...

I don't think you have to ditch the idea of getting muscular. My bodyfat percentage is around 10 or 11% and there is still enough a layer of fat that I can use my abdomen for injections.

Just be careful of the Keytones that your body will burn up fat and lands in the kidney although some is OK but to a limit. I would go at a steady pace and gather the intensity gradually. Persistence will get your satisfaction.

Take 6 cans of diet coke, a bottle of gorilla glue, and glue them on.. works every time! 24 packs are harder but come out looking nice in the end.

Just remember, it is 75% diet that gives you that shape. If you want to have ripped abs that make you look like Lou Ferrigno, you need to take advantage of shakes, whey powders, and all of that stuff that I know nothing about. If you want to look good at the beach, there are ways to make that happen as well. Right now I am 205 lbs, trying to get down to 190 but am on a plateau of sorts, and under 12% body fat. I start each day with 100 pushups and 300 crunches. I usually eat a diet full of lean proteins and whole grains as well as lots and lots of greens. I usually start the day off, depending on where I am due to my hectic travel schedule, an egg white omellette with no cheese, but sometimes spinach, a piece or two of whole grain white toast with a bit of olive oil (good fats), a half pint of skim milk, a half pint of grapefruit juice, and a cup of coffee on my way to work.
Lunch I usually have something with a lot of protein and whole grains, as well as a fruit serving. Tuna on whole grain with some olive oil, an apple, and a bottle of water is a good example.
Dinner, again, is the same, but normally I make it a larger meal. A good example would be a piece or two of grilled chicken breast with some seasonings, a lot of veggies, and maybe some brown rice with a small glass of skim milk, a bottle of water, and an apple or orange.
Drink lots of water is another important thing to remember.
Snacks, which we all know are necessary at times, I make work to my advantage. For lows I drink OJ and eat whole grains and fruit. A glass of OJ and a piece or two of whole grain bread works nicely and is healthy.
Weekends are typically my "splurge" so I eat anything I please.
For exercise, besides my morning routine, I do 30 minutes of heavy cardio a day, typically rowing or swimming, 5-6 days a week. I also lift weights 4-5 days per week, and walk 1-3 miles daily, which I don't consider exercise, but it doesn't hurt.

Generally, if you don't have a six pack, you get it by changing your lifestyle - because it's a lifestyle. It's a change it what you eat and what you do (exercise), and doing that consistently.
