Post game adrenaline highs

What is the best way to treat post game adrenaline highs occurring after an evening game of basketball? My son is on the high school varsity BB team and had an absolutely fabulous game this evening. Had Subway at 5:00 p.m. and dosed. Nothing since and his blood sugar now is 240 at 1030 p.m. Would you correct or let it ride? He played a good majority of the game and is pumped up. Any sports experts?
What has worked for you?

Valerie

If he takes a long lasting insulin, I would just take that and see how he tests in the morning. I tend to get high after playing a sport and then it levels off, but after 5 1/2 hours.. I don't know, it shouldn't be 240 so maybe a small correction dose is in order. Maybe the Subway had something to do with it?

I agree----I generally am low after a great deal of physical activity. You might go to the Subway nutrition site: Official SUBWAY Restaurants' Nutrition Information and see if properly dosed for the carbs in the meal.

After a hockey game if I'm high, I'll bolus for it but cut my basals back through the night. On MDI, I'd probably take a smaller bolus than a normal correction.

Either way, I'd keep one ear open in the night.
