Today was 2 kick butt hours of spinning and Pilates, then an hour walk around home base.
I burned around 900 calories.
After the walk my bs dropped 42 points!
Then I felt like I was starving at 108 and ate something....
sigh.

...almost immediatly following a 6km run at high altitude, and a bball pickup game {also at altitude} mine will be between 105-124; and goes back to double digits within 1-2 hrs. I'm still within the safety margins and I suspect similiar to non-diabetics. Remember, blood sugar is an individual thing so don't try and fit into, and before I as diagnosed my Fasting was always in the high 60s. Then some [nasty] little gene kicked in and probably saved my life.

nice work out pink...nice to be able to cheat a little afterward too : ) Ibeat i was re-watching the kona ironman championships that i've got on my dvr. tons of inspirational stories from cancer survivors, amputees and just plain ol' old farts...time doesnt matter, if you finish you can call yourself an ironman or a marathon runner or whatever you want... finishing is a huge accomplishment for some people so i say if you go from couch potato to a 5hr marathon runner...its all good your a marathon runner. but if you run a 5hr marathon and brag about it you deserve to get picked on too - but if you enjoy the personal accomplishment then all the power too ya. gotta do 2 mile swim-spin class-hr on the tread mill this morning....trip to to endo tomorrow will try to ask about the protein shakes. a happy an dsweaty morning to you all
graham and all,
Today I did a 1 hr strength class and 30 minutes of spinning. I only got 4 hrs of sleep last night and my arms (neck) feel overworked so I skipped upper body lifting for today
and am going to focus on the interesting pattern of my couch and the inside of my eyelids !
I hope everyone has a delightful St Patrick's Day!
A happy and sweaty Pink
I did 1 hour of mixed cardio (jump roping), free weights (shoulders, biceps, triceps), core stuff. My arms are sore already.

Hi kelly,
Sounds like a good workout and after a period of hours your arms might be ready to go again.
I am so glad I skipped lifting today and now I feel ready to left tomorrow.
You mentioned 'starting TTC' after you have a specific A1C on your profile,
Would you please explain what that is?
Off to rest since I didn't do it for long earlier,
Pink
"TTC" is "trying to conceive". But my husband and I have put that off due to some GI issues I'm having. [sigh]
I'd like to see my A1C below 6.0 for a few months before getting pregnant. I may never get there, and in that case - I'm ok with my typical A1C which is around 6.1. But I'd like to give it a good try first.
I think tomorrow I'm going to try to hit a Yin Yoga class. I love most yoga, although I'm not a fan of "hot" yoga - I cannot stand working out in stuffy, hot rooms. Yin has been great - it's kind of the opposite of flow yoga - in Yin, you hold the poses for several minutes. It helps with really increasing flexibility and working your connective tissues. I feel amazing after it. I've had a number of strange connective tissue issues since being diagnosed with D (like tightening and lack of flexibility). Yin has been the perfect answer to that.

Thank you for bring this up. In addition to the things you mentioned, the benefit of exercise also include colon health, as I read the other day, not to mention reducing A1C, blood pressure, cholesterol. I reduced my LDL from 161 to 112 in 4 monthes on my last lab results, and I took no statin, even though my dr had strongly recommended. She dropped that recommendation after seeing my results by the way....Did I read it is also good for one's nerve system too? To all who exercises regularly, congrats and we are on the right track!
I did 60 minutes on eliptical + 45 minutes running on trendmill yesterday. Today is a day off, no exercise. Weather is looking good for tomorrow, if it remains so, I will make a trip to central park....happy friday everyone!

k_dub: On the TTC; best of luck and hope you can shoot for makin' a baby soon! About the Yoga; I've been doing Yin and didn't even know it. (chuckle) It sure builds strength, I also do Power Yoga. Any kind of Yoga has been responsible for getting my pain levels down. I never want to stop doing it and am shooting for doing it 6 days a week. The 'Hot' Yoga you mentioned is something I would never do as I cannot exercise in the heat. yuck!
Graham; hitting the ground running when I am older seems to be the only reasonable goal for me. Either that...or I will turn into a party-animal. I know the second alternative wouldn't make me feel too good about myself so I chose fitness instead. I used to smoke cloves and have to say I LOVE those things. I am really grateful they were deemed to be illegal in the US or I might still be smoking them today.
Ibeatt2; I hope you enjoy your day off and that tomorrow is a dynamite day for exercise. I went out to breakfast this morning and it was 45 degrees out. A little brrr... when unexpected. You must be thrilled with your LDL changes. Kudos!
Today is 2 hrs: Yoga, then spinning and strength.
I'd rather take a nap first. yawwwwn............
Sometimes I wonder if I was meant to be a couch potato; then I hit the gym and my blood sings, I feel like a cheerleader so I guess the couch and I are only temporary friends.
Oh my gosh, it's absolutely beautiful here today. It's been awful all week with tons of wind, but today it is still, sunny, and warm. The bulbs I planted this fall are just now popping out. It's making me energized!
I just went for a walk with my dogs. I feel like leaving work to go play outside. Maybe a nice long bike ride?
What do you all like to do for exercise when it's nice outside?
PINK - I totally agree with you regarding yoga and pain management. I've done a little bit of Yin in other yoga classes, but the Yin class I go to now is much more intense. You hold each pose for 8-10 minutes - to the point of being very uncomfortable (but not in pain) and then you get your mind to focus on the fact that you are "safe" and that the discomfort is mostly emotional. Then you focus on breathing into that rigid connective tissue. I feel completely liberated after class.

WoW that's a long time to hold a pose: 8 Minutes and I don't think I could do it.
I know what you mean about feeling liberated. What a wonderful feeling.
4 minutes seems like a long time to me.
I am grateful to have this thread to post on because I make a commitment here and then feel more accountable which is one of the big secrets to fitness success for me.
Today is a killer spin class then Yoga.
I will be happy just to get through this spin class, never mind keeping up with these crazy athletes.
: )

When it's sunny outside I love to walk or hike near water. When the water is warmer I love to swim and hang out on the beach.
Great weather in nyc today, temperature just under 50, windy. I ran 13.1 miles in central park in 1:59, slightly better than last week, probably thanks to the full day of rest I had yesterday. The run was exhausting, but I felt fine. The most fatigue part of my body is actually my arms and shoulders. Apprantly, your arms can get tired swing back and forth for 2 hours.....I did not know that lol ...I actually had this last week too...looks like I need to do some more weight training for my upper body strengh.....but I am already spending so much time in the gym everyday...Agh!.... I walked a mile to my car after the run, started to drive from manhattan back to Queens, looks like it is another good run.
But that is not the end of the story. After I got back to my neighborhood in Queens, as I was driving around my house looking for a parking spot, I start to feel more fatigue and got a sick feeling in my stomach. That is a famaliar, un-mistakable and ominous sign, I know exactly what is coming next. I parked my car, walked a couple of blocks to my house, then I ate, bathed, and layed in bed for an hour......All I can say is I am lucky this one wasn't as bad as the previous ones........can't believe this thing is still haunting me
Pink, I agree, Graham is definately a crazy athlete![]()
Darn, I see this guy in the mirror everyday lol...$500/acre over there? hmmm.....how many acres I am allowed to buy? I want to slice them off upstate and tow a few pieces to nyc, and if they let me park it in the right place in Manhattan, I could sell it for a cool mil! lol.....sure beats working...
Oh, before the moderator deem this off topic, I did 105 minutes on eliptical today..![]()
