I fell and now have 14 inches of bruising on my left side so I am only walking as I cannot use my left side much.

Walked a gorgeous sunset beach walk with the oval moon rising in the sky backlit with swirly pink clouds.
I miss my workouts like crazy.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I feel for you.

Falling (I'm prone to it ) is my big fear. Kind of a constant fear. Falling and hurting myself or gettiing an injury and not being able to work out freaks me out! Good that you are able to walk. It's something and much better than nothing! Keep it up, take care of yourself and you'll be able to get back to your routine.

I went on my walk today, the long route, 45 minutes. As slow and frustrating as it has been, I know that my knee is getting better. I don't limp as badly at the end - even though I'm walking 15 minutes longer. I'm also not getting the nerve (paroneal nerve , I think) pain which was going from the outside of my knee down to the top of my foot and causing my leg to "give out," which was a little scary at times. so I'll look on the bright side and be happy for improvement and confident in continued improvement from here on out.

Yesterday evening , I did 60 min yoga at 24 hour fitness center , lot stretching, strength and balance etc and I felt good.
But it didn't impact sugar levels right after yoga, but this morning I had FBG 97 ? I was so happy, because, I have been trying to bring FBG under 100, so far UN-successful. I am going to do Yoga again tonight and see how that may impact tomorrow morning FBG.

Hooterville, Thanks so much for the encouragement! I have a tendency to 'Go for it!!' which lands me on my A$$ more often than I'd like. Not being able to hit the gym is one of my greatest fears and the pain has had me married to the couch with the ice pack working it's magic. I can't tape my knee to protect it at the gym because any pressure on my knee hurts it so I am not sure what to do! Walking in loose pants is the only thing that seems to work right now.

Vilya-- Glad you are still exercising and good to hear you got back up on skates! What fun:

Svankaya-- I am so glad for you that your numbers were down in the morning! I am sure Yoga helps and am wondering if you keep a log of what you eat, numbers after and before, and your exercise times? This really helped me to get a handle on what was going on so I could work my best solutions.

I am really grateful for this forum as it is where my heart is. Thanks for being here you guys!

I've been able to walk 7 days per week.

On my three work days I walk 26 minutes (1.6 mi) in the morning plus 1/2 mile at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm while at work.

Non-work days I walk 2.1 miles, usually in the morning. This is pretty much my regular routine for now until I can crank it up a notch as the knee improves.

Hey all. Got shorted a day at the gym this week...wife is getting a little "huffy" with all the time i've been spending there. So only got a 5 day week in instead of 6. Weekly totals were 5967.00 Yds swimming/3:10 bike trainer/17.99 mi running. Little does she know that next week will now be a 7 day week . 27 weeks till ironman, somewhere around 14-15 weeks for divorce court

I tweaked my walking route a little today which made one hill longer and added a little more ground. I got my heart rate up quite a bit higher than my previous high and, according to my heart rate monitor, burned quite a few more calories with only adding about 4 minutes for a total of 40 minutes. If felt good especially since I skipped yesterday and was disappointed in myself about it. It's another day though and I feel good about today.

Yesterday I walked with a 91 yr old woman and her dog for 20 minutes and then went on for a faster 30 additional.
I love this woman! She walks her dog 3 times a day and wears bright, vibrant colors. She is old school, very direct and always has nice tings to say about people.
I try to walk in the sand for part of my walk every day. I think I am well enough to go back to the gym tomorrow.

I went on my long 40 minute route today. I'm figuring more and more out about my heart rate monitor which is fun and rewarding. It says I'm pretty much staying in performance zone and occasionally dipping into weight loss zone. Both sound good so I'm happy and motivated.

Pink, sand would kill my achilles! I have to be careful with sand.

I go to the gym every morning. The dietician and the personal trainer I hired to kick me in the butt both told me to spend a higher percentage of my time on building muscle mass compared to cardio because muscle metabolizes more carbs. The trainer said do not do weight work every day so I rotate. I start with abouty 20 minutes of stretching either day and then I do about 40 minutes of cardio one day and 40 minutes of pumping iron the next day. I've been exercising virtually every day since December 26, and for about 4 days on vacation I also walked 3-4 miles a day. People say I look much better and I certainly feel better. I'm going to need to buy a new belt in a couple weeks. I'm already past the first hole on the two I use regularly. The fancy one I had custom measured last Labor Day is already on the scrap heap.

Hitting the airdyne again tonight took a day plus off to let tailend calm down. I bought a new belt Xmas time and will be popping a couple new holes in it soon. Tossed all the xl underwear tonight I am proud to say. Won't stay up and that feels very uncomfortable if you know.

Walked my short 30 minute route that I walk on worday mornings. 28 degrees this morning, brrrrr! Rain expected tomorrow but they say it will hold off until afternoon or evening so I'll hit the pavement again in the morning.
