Hmmm, 39.6 walking miles this week. What is going on here?![]()
Soon daylight will become a real issue so this will not continue forever. For now, I'll take advantage of the daylight I do have.
Enjoy your workouts, people!

mike m...sounding like a broken record is a good thing around here! consistency and longevity are the keys to successful long term exercise. keep it up brother!
Hootie...tap dancing on the 40mi mark! thats awesome! i dont think youve hit 40 before have you? you gotta hit it before the days get too short! the only bad thing is that means youll be trying to hit 50 next spring lol! but goals are good as long as they're fun so go for it!
im still doing mostly strength stuff right now. i think i lost 6-7lbs of muscle in my upper body in may-june...been doing a couple days running and cycling but not enough. my bg's are horrible without it. im usually 150-180 after breakfast...last 2 weeks ive been 380-425. time to change my diet or start doing an hr or 2 of cardio again!

Graham, it scares me. I don't know why hahaha. No, I've never done 40. I just went from 30 to 35 two weeks ago. I've been doing a 4th hill when I have time thinking that I'm starting to lose daylight and maybe I'll get in a little extra when I can to make up for any occasions when I don't have enough light to do my whole route. So far I haven't had real daylight issues though. I guess I'm nervous about getting to a level that I can't sustain, ya know? Like am I making this too hard on myself? Will my body expect it and insist on it bg and weight loss wise? Am I going over the edge to crazy land with this walking? lmao. Also, I'm really trying to convince myself that Winter is going to be ok and everything isn't going to fall apart...
Yeah, Graham, time to do something about those after breakfast numbers. That's scary time. I guess you can't keep up an Ironman diet when you aren't Ironman training. Sad, huh?
Thanks for all the encouragement. I'm headed out now to...walk.![]()

Yeah you might be right...you're going to end up in situation where its going to take so much time its going to become a huge burden to sustain. Just a thought as I knowyou have issues with knees and hips etc...could you make it shorter and harder? More hills? a little zumba /dance ala "pink style"?
...im just thinking out loud, but you might have to shake it up a little!

I did NOT feel like walking today. Have a lot of work to do. Been spending a lot of time online with Big D stuff and getting a bit behind on a few things. (small business owner, it never ends). BUT I forced myself out the door of the Roastery anyway, hit the chronograph on my watch and starting walking.
Power walking was a struggle, having to force myself to keep a quick long stride and arms swinging. Usually by 8 to 10 minutes I hit a groove. Fifteen minutes out and still had to keep pushing myself. BUT I still had to walk back! Finally it all clicked in place 18 minutes in - legs just gliding long and swift strides, arms freely swinging, heart beating steady and strong and breathing deep but not labored with a bit-o-sweat trinkling from the brow. Found myself walking stronger yet easier up a return long incline than earlier going down. Had meant to keep the walk to only 30 minutes because of the work I need to get done but instead of turning right for the last two blocks back turned left.Did keep it shorter than yesterday's 45 minute getting back at 38 minutes and switching to cool off slow walking.
Day 17 of 18 - Done whether I felt like it or not! And feeling good for doing it. (and with an after breakfast after walk BG of a nice 84)
