Thumbs up Diabetic man attempting Mt. Everest

May 24 - Will Cross, a 38-year-old father of six and former high school principal from Pittsburgh, plans this week to become the first person in the world with diabetes to climb Mount Everest, the earth's highest peak at 29,035 feet. He says he wants to prove that the disease, which affects more than 18 million Americans, doesn't have to be a limitation.

This is too cool!!!

Here's the whole article if you'd like to read more:

Well that must mean the nurse who diagnosed me lied
She told me not to worry about being diabetic because her diabetic friend recently climbed Everest... I was quite impressed, how dare she lie like that the silly moose :p

Perhaps your nurse meant her friend scaled Mt. Everest part way but did not make it to the top....I see there is a base camp and then four more camps set up for climbers before you actually attain the summit. I am sure diabetics may have tried before this guy and made it part of the way, don't ya think??? Hmmmm.... Hubby and I were pondering at lunch how in the world you would be able to rip off a glove for a BG check or reveal any spot of skin for injections in those cold temperatures.

Hmm... there must be some other way to show the world diabetics aren't weak and wimpy other than risking making one's children fatherless. Actually, I believe this issue has already been proven. Can we say... Olympic Champion?!
