| Exercise and Lows Gina,
I try to exercise for an hour each day, usually pretty intensive cardio workwork. I have found that as long as I eat enough protein at the meal before I work out, my bs stays fine, usually only dropping around 65. However, I do try to keep glucose tablets handy at all times, in case I should feel low during a workout. I usually feel like I get the best workout when I exercise at least 2-3 hours after my last meal. If I wait until 4 hours after my last meal, I tend to run low and have to stop my workout early. However, this depends on what I ate at the previous meal. If I'm below 110 before i workout, I usually eat a small serving of nuts or a tablespoon of peanut butter, which gives me enough protein/carbs to keep me up throughout my workout. I've also found that it's not a good idea to exercise on a full stomache, especially if you're REALLY full, because it can make my bs go up instead of down. Hope this helps a little! |
