Just wonderin. One doc has been been giving me all sorts of unhelpful BP meds for the last few years, then after 3 days on HCT my BP goes down from 160/110 to 130/70, consistently.

just lols.

So I was wondering if anyone else has been using HCT and what kinda results you're getting.

I am so glad I asked about Janumet on here because I found out on Blood Sugars 101 that it can be very harmful to someone with inflammation and I have inflammation of the liver. After calling my Reproductive Endocrinologist whose opinion I really trust and respect he told me I should not be taking Janumet and for his life he couldn't figure out why this Dr even prescribed that to me because I don't need insulin, in his opinion. The highest I have tested in the last week is 164 (after a bowl of cereal with milk). My morning readings are higher (143 avg) but going down every day, I got 122 this morning and during the day 2 hr after eating around 108-143, this is with no meds just following my diet. He wanted me to take Metformin only, but not until my hepatologist signed off on it. Anyways to make a long story shorter I called the bad Dr's office, explained the situation and 2 days later (today) I get a call from the Dr's nurse saying yup, she should not have given me that and is writing me a script for Metformin, but I am out the $131 the Janumet cost me, and they can't help me get my money back. So I go to CVS to pick up the Metformin and I see on the bottle that she wants me to take 2 in the morning and 1 at night. I feel like that is way to much first off. Should I just totally write this Dr off and see a new one before I start taking anything? Don't Dr's want their patients to start with lower doses and test them first? I just don't understand!!

Ever find that everything gets in the way of properly looking after yourself? Or that at the end of the day you just don't have the energy or will to do what you need to do for your diabetes?

I guess that's my case at the moment.

I have lots of friends who have the same lifestyle as me; they run all day, they work full time, they look after everyone, they work, they juggle with schedules and errands and laundry and kids. They talk about getting in shape, doing this and that but they never get around to it because one kid is sick, because there is a school meeting, because the dishwasher died, because the family pet was sick all over the family room carpet, because the in-laws are coming over, because there is dinner to cook and home made is the only way. Are we all suffering from the Super Woman syndrome?

I'm the only diabetic amongst my friends though. Just had blood work done and I do need to make changes.

I wish I could do like my husband does : sit in front of the TV on a week day and watch a hockey game and not care while everything is piling up and kids are screaming and 500 things needs to be done by next morning. Maybe that's the root of my problem? I want everything to be perfect all the time?

Just wondering if I'm alone in that boat.

And by the way... did I ever tell you I hate diabetes with a passion?

Rant over. Thanks.

He had diabetes that went untreated for years. He didn't get better....one complication after another...My cousin, Anna suffered a massive stroke while in WVA at the hospital....untreated diabetes. None of us knew that she was without meds...They said she would never walk or talk again...but she proved everyone wrong. She now lives in a nursing home, praying for a day that she might be released, but I'm thinking that won't happen.

When you address your Christmas cards this year, would you address an extra one and mail it to her? you can tell her that Joyce asked you to do it. she has nothing to look forward to and it breaks my heart. she lives about 7 hours from me.

Her name and address: Anna Farley 1017 George Washington Hwy Chesapeake VA 23323
May God richly bless you for doing me this one favor.

I have to say that my numbers have been great since Monday, well, actually Sunday. My morning fasting is now around 95-97. After eating, any meal, my two hour reading is 130 or less....and Sunday my levels hovered around 95 all day.

Yesterday morning, I got brave and had cooked oat bran, but less than 1 serving. My 2 hour level was 130....the last time I ate oat bran, a full serving (according to the box) my two hour level was 189.

This morning, I got brave and had a piece of Ezekiel Bread and a fried egg for breakfast /w a piece of turkey sausage and my two hour check was 125. The last time I had Ezekiel Bread and an egg, my numbers were in the 190's.

Can having less of a carb .....How do I phrase my question. Is it the actual carb that causes the spike, or is it the amount of carb consumed that causes the problem, OR could it be that more protein was served with the carb that could have caused a lower number. Whatever it is that I'm doing, I want to make sure that I don't stop...

No, I'm not interested in eating anything high carb because I am really enjoying my weight loss. And I am so happy to be back in the gym. One of my friends was so encouraged by my progress that she joined the gym and now I have a gym buddy!

But I am curious about this carb thing...
Thanks in advance!
