Okay I am 7 wks pregnant with my second child. Up until now, I've been really insulin resistant and on quite a great deal of insulin (on a pump and CGM). In the last few days I've been having more lows than usual, especially during the night when I am asleep, whereas only a few weeks ago this was the same exact time when I was the highest. Well, last night I had a low of 35! I wasn't even shaking, which was is VERY scary. I treated and of course, rose up too high soon thereafter, probably due to both the treatment as well as some liver dump.
Just yesterday, I had my 1st u/s and everything was great, the baby measured right on target and had a HB of 138! But now I am just terrified that something could be wrong since my BS went that low! I did have a low of 38 a few weeks ago but I had just found out that I was pregnant back then.
Please someone rest aside my fears here!
Even though I had a great ultrasound yesterday but having that low last night has me so scared :(

What kind of questions should I be asking my doctor at my first prenatal visit? It is next week and I'm trying to prepare my list before I go in. This was an unplanned pregnancy for me and my husband, and I am so scared that my diabetes isn't in "tight" control. I keep reading these websites that are freaking me out a little. They keep talking about the birth defects and complications a baby can have if you don't take proper care of yourself especially within the first few months.

It is very comforting to read some of these stories and know I am not alone and that many women have made it though with little or no complications. I have been doing my best to keep constrol of my sugars since I took the home pregnancy test, but I still am having his and lows.

because of nausea, and increased hunger (holy smokes!), i feel the need to consume something about every two hours. if i don't i feel very nauseated.

however, because of this i'm having a great deal of trouble stabilizing my BS. i bolus, eat...then two hours later i do it again, so i feel like i'm constantly peaking. prebolus or split bolus works to an extent, but still.

i need food that makes me feel "full". can anyone give me suggestions for healthy, very low carb food ideas. i've been eating cheese and peanut butter like it's going out of style...but i'm afraid i'm going to gain too much weight doing that. i'm also drinking tea 24/7 as it settles my stomach a little.

help!

Hi everyone. I just found out that I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with type 1 last january. This was an oopseybaby but we are excited. However, I am absolutely terrified because I had a miscarriage back in january because I didn't know I had diabetes. I have had pretty good control since then but I am not on a pump. I use pens and a OneTouch meter. Am I doomed? I don't know where to start. I meet my OB later this week and my endocrinologist next week. I am new to this tight control and I feel like I'm going to fail. Any advice? Thanks everyone!
how the heck are you supposed to keep such tight control when your needs are changing hourly???
i'm also testing obsessively...like 12 times a day.
it does get easier to manage though, right?

Hello,

I am a type 1 diabetic for 24 years and currently 11 weeks pregnant. My blood sugars have been under fairly good control thus far. I do find that it seems some days though are tougher than others. I can be in good control for a week or two, then it's like suddenly my numbers increase. I haven't changed anything I eat or my basal rates. I'll change where I have my pump inset in, thinking it's not working correctly, but still numbers are suddenly not coming down. Then maybe a couple days later my numbers go back to normal. Has anyone else experienced fluctuations that come for a day or two, then change? I'm thinking maybe my hormones are going a little crazy, then settling down. I know insulin resistance comes along with pregnancy, but I was thinking it would be more consistent later on. Has anyone experienced this? I am in weekly contact with my doctor, but hope to hear other peoples experiences. THANK YOU!!!

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant. I have been a diabetic for the past 21 years and NOT in good control until about the past two years (kinda). I am 33 years old and am terrified. I want this so bad, but honestly, I've had at least one high a day (200). Believe me, I am in the best control of my life with an A1c of 6.3 but the highs concern me. I am trying so hard but what are my odds of having a baby without serious complications? Should I just expect the worst? Is there anyone out there who can relate or offer advice? Also, how long should I wait before I tell anyone?
Thank you for listening.
