They say its not related to Diabetes...what do they know!

Hypertensive Retinopathy...( excuse my spelling)
The eye doctor told me it is not related to my diabetes.... (but excuse me for asking this beginner question)... isn't hypertension linked to Diabetes?

Anyway they told me that until my blood pressure gets under control there is nothing they could do...

It's linked in that many diabetics have hypertension. I suppose it could be a long-term side effect, but the bottom line is that your doctor said you have to get your hypertension under control. He knows you better than we do, but I detect someone who likes her salt.

Listen to your doctor.

Well, Lets see..
#1. What is your BP? S/B max of 80/140 and 70/120 preferred
#2. If High? Then gots to see your Dr. and take whatever meds and New Diet to get it down
#3. And Yes, These "eye" Dr.'s can't do much of anything Until AFTER the Proble occures..Hemmorages, etc..
Why? I've seen serveral for mine and every one has said..." We relly haven't changed treatment in 10 yrs..
#4. R U a Diabetic? Then , you've heard this many times... Gots to get Very tight control and strive for 5% A1c's the bestway you can.. even if it requires a Insulin Pump...
It's either that or go blind... A no Brainer to me..

You make it sound like a bad thing I've really enjoyed my time on it

------------

It also doesn't help if you have diabetic retinopathy thrown into the mix. When you have a heavy duty pump and leaky hoses, all the duct tape in Chicago won't stop the leaks.

BP down! A1C down!

Robertson, it's also call IOP, it's eye pressure, when the eye doc measured the pressure on your eyes maybe you were above 21. if the eye pressure is, let's say 25 they'll prescribe lowering hypertension medicine, most of the time these are eye drops applied daily.
If not treated the person gets glaucoma, but first the person loses peripherial vision, the doc should have done a field test on you to see if you are OK with your peripherial vision.

The pressure on my eyes are 20 right now, but mine were like 27, I'm trying to see if I find a better medicine or supplement to take so it wouldn't go back up to above 21.
To lower the eye pressure a person may use a beta blocker they work, but I don't like the side effects. (Google: beta blockers)

Were you prescribed any meds?
Do you know your eyes pressure?
