Arrow Retina Pictures

Alright, I finally got my retina photos from the eye clinic. I have black & white and colour. The problem areas show up better in the B&W ones. My understanding is that the light spots (the small ones and at least some of the bigger blurry ones) are problem areas.

If anyone has any comments, feel free. It's been almost 3 months since the appointment in which I looked at them with my optho, so I've forgotten a few things.

I made them pretty big so that you could see the spots better, but the best way to see them is at their original size (i.e. HUGE) so you can zoom in. If anyone REALLY wants to see them at full size, PM me.

No post ops yet. I'm not done yet. Just the left eye. I'm going to try to get post op pics when he's done.

I burst out laughing when I read this Injecto! When I was looking through the eye pictures, I was thinking about saying the same thing to Beth! Then I read your thread! hahaha - very funny!

They make you put your face into the same sort of thing you always have to at the optometrist or ophthamologist, and then they make you hold your eyes wide open, and they snap the pictures. Nothing touches your eye or anything. Simple.

Although, for some of them they first inject dye into your arm. It helps them to see the blood vessels better. This is called a fluorescein angiography. The photographs are still taken the same way....you just have a dye IV first. (I hated that, but just because I'm a wuss.)

It's harder to see on the colour ones, but on the black & white ones, it's the little white spots, as well as most of the bigger blurry white spots that shouldn't be there. There are lots of good examples of various stages of retinopathy online if you google "diabetic retinopathy" under Google Images.

I am really proud of you Beth. Good job on getting all the info and making an informed decision.

Nothing like seeing your urine turn a florecent yellow after having lights strobing the back of your retina. I've never done LSD, but I believe it would have been something like an FA.

The doctor requested the photos....I didn't have to ask for them.

The back of my eyes were described as a "train wreck". I hope all goes well for you. I bawled worse than a baby after all of my laser treatments. It was a horrific experience that I don't anyone else ever to go through (partically my younger sister, also Type 1). I hope you have someone supportive with you as your going to the doc!
