Hi Mars, I was just wondering how you were doing. Could the black "lines" be strings of floaters? I have some of those. One stays in the same place, but sometimes I have one that disappears as I move around during the day. The eye doctor said this was just gravity pulling them out of my line of vision. With what you have been through, it is no wonder you worry. Do you have an appointment anytime soon for a checkup? If not, maybe you should just call your doctor about it to be sure. It's nice to see you back here.

It's so wonderful to hear from you! I hope you're doing really well. Didn't you meet that someone special recently and if so, I hope it's all you dreamed it would be.

I get black spots often but the physicians just say it's my imagination. Well, if it's my imagination, I'd be seeing Erica Durance, not black spots, so I don't believe that to be it.

Like Penny said, is it possible you're seeing floaters? How large are the spots? Mine are REALLY large but the do go away after a short time although the floaters are here forever. The black spots are at their worst during low blood sugar for me. I have no idea what the cause is or how they can be treated because no doctor has been of any help so far.

Keep watch for flashes, though. Everything will turn white for a second, at least, that's the way it is for me. They are a sign of potential retinal detachment and you need to have that corrected IMMEDIATELY.

I'm so sorry I can be of now help in this problem but that's pretty much the story of my life, isn't it? I do so very much hope you have a wonderful life, though, and I wish you'd come back here much more frequently. I've missed you, even though we've never talked much, I've missed you just the same. Didn't your daughter recently have a birthday? I hope it was a happy one!

Thanks,,,
Yes I did meet Mr. right, lol. My life is REAL good and that really helps. Its more lines than spots, the spots are small. The lines are what are annoying and make me scared.

Do the lines look like random floating around bits or more like spider webbing? I had new blood vessel growth that had to be nix'd with laser. It looked like spider webbing and kind of moved as i moved my head. It always retured to the same spot though. If you're concerned call your eye doctor. Its better to get in early and find out its nothing then to find out its something too late. The weight of new blood vessel growth can pull on the retina and cause tears so call soon.

Its just like a line, not too big. It tends to move around, but not spider-like. If I tilt my head back or go to sleep they go away. I know blood does disapear that easy. I trying to stay as posistive as possible.

Hi Mars,

Glad to hear from you. It's a cute picture of you and Alex.

I have assorted spots and such, but ignore them because my optho told me to. I laugh sometimes because I think there is a tiny bug on our windshield or a bird waaay up there flying by and my hubby gives me "that look" just before I notice it's gone. He thinks it's funny too.

I'm down to an every four months visit to the Optho these days!

Hang in there. Glad to hear from you. Mich

I'm in the same boat. I had a bleeder back in April and the end result has been some floaters and line b ut my doc says it's normal. I can still see 20/20 but it still scares me. Just watch it and if any drastic changes occur let your doc know right away. Good luck.

Hey Mars! Great to see you. I'm Happy to hear
that you are doing mostly well....you and Alex.
I hope Minibon is doing well also.

I get the floaters and spider webs sometimes from
the vitreous gel back there. I had read somewhere
that they can look like a line also. Actually, my Friend
mentioned seeing a line in his eye also recently. He's
a Type 2 who has not been looking after himself since
my other Friend(his Fiancee) has been on Life Support
for about 3 weeks now. It's just Sad.

Anyways, he mentioned the line and looked really
worried. I wanted to make an for him appt. right away
but he's with her all the time....I can't say I blame him.

All I could find for you(other than the gel which it could
be) was Retinopathy again....which you already recovered
from. Sorry, that's all that came up. Take Care Hun!

Retinopathy

Problems with the retina are called diabetic retinopathy.
Problems develop as a result of fluid leaking from blood
vessels into the eye or abnormal blood vessels formed in
the eye. In either case, vision can be affected. If retinopathy
is not found early or is not treated, blindness can occur.

Symptoms

Sometimes there are no symptoms of retinopathy, but two
common symptoms are:

-Blurred vision
-Spots or lines in your vision

Treatment

-Laser therapy
-Surgery

Prevention

Have your eye doctor screen for retinopathy annually.

Women with preexisting diabetes who become pregnant should have a comprehensive eye exam during the first trimester and close follow-up with an eye doctor during pregnancy (this recommendation does not apply to women who develop gestational diabetes, since they are not at risk for retinopathy)

Blurred vision

Don't buy a new pair of glasses when you notice you have blurred vision. Blurred vision can develop rapidly and can be due to high blood glucose levels. High blood glucose causes the lens of the eye to swell, which changes your ability to see. To correct this kind of blurred vision, you need to get your blood glucose level back into the target range (80-140 mg/dl before meals, and 100-160 mg/dl before bedtime snack). Blurred vision can also be a symptom of more serious eye problems. If your vision is blurred, contact your doctor.
