Need a;; advice and assistance from all my freinds here, PLEASE

Well, as you all know I am in a serious relationship now. I am very happy and it has made my overall health, body and soul improved dramatically. I have to tell you that I am thinking of having another child pretty soon. My Bsugar is great and my Body has eliminated the MS med. It is out of my body. My biggest concern is getting those AVASTIN shots every few months and how it would jeopardize a pregnancy. It is a medication for colon cancer (Genentech: Products - Product Information - Avastin)
I know that the amount I receive is not close to the amount that a cancer patient received by IV, but I want to be very careful.

I asked the doctor and he said he had not really looked into AVASTIN and pregnancy. I need all your advise and help, please, my friends.

I looked up "Avastin and Pregnancy" and found the following:

"FDA pregnancy category C. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether Avastin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Older adults may be more likely to have side effects from Avastin.
Avastin can affect a woman's fertility (ability to have children). Talk to your doctor about your specific risks."

I think your best bet would be to find a high-risk OB/GYN and go and see him/her and discuss what problems might be involved for someone contemplating pregnancy on this medication.

Thanks for the info. I know that it has to have some effects on the body, like any medication. A lot of the FDA reports are based on the IV procedure which is much more quantity thast the body receives. I must look for an OB/GYN.

You could also call your local "Academy of Medicine" for a list of doctors in your area....or better yet, ask the doctor who treats you with it to recommend someone he knows and respects in that specialty.

Any agent which affects or interferes with cell division is bound to be a big time no-no during pregnancy. I would proceed very cautiously and talk to lots of medical folks before proceeding.

The internet is probably a better source of emotional support than medical advice.

Yes, I read and it looks like there is a very low risk compared to a patient with Cancer that receives it by IV in major quantity. Thank you, I will continue my search because I am sure that there are diabetic women, like myself, that appreciate knowing all o this.
