Well done; that's great news for you and gives us relative newbies (12 odd years now) a great deal of hope.

But...but....but that's not possible. You can't have perfect health with the control methods used 30 years ago.

Congrats and keep up the good work.

That's good news...I'm at 42 years on insulin...my last endo really hated that my eyes were good. She also said my feet were "too good"...normally, I would think that was funny...but she really seemed to make me feel that I was always in denial....

That's great news Sue. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.
I've been on insulin for 22 years and my eyes are doing very well too. Had my annual eye appt 2 weeks ago.
Funny thing though. It used to be that I always had to have my glasses on to see anything (near sighted). I was having trouble seeing things up close without having to look over the top of my glasses. My eye doctor actually said that I could take my glasses off when reading or drawing up my insulin into my reservoir but to keep wearing them for distance viewing and driving. Truly strange but of course, I've always been a little different.

Hey Sue and Alice--

Great News! I'm so glad for both of you. It's been tough, I know but good for you both.

I'm 48 years into insulin and have been dealing with a few eye problems for a while, but research and guts tell me it's genetic. My gg grandma had D and eye probs too.

All of you newbies keep on doing what you can to stay healthy, I'm positive it will be a better road for you. Sooo many new ways to deal with things. All are amazing and wonderful.

Good news: My retina specialist today said my good eye had improved to 20:40 (I read up on vision therapy and have been exercising it) and I'm good to go on my driver's license.

We'll eventually beat this thing yet!

Mich

PS I'm not a nut, I'm actually pretty realistic.

Thank you! Us newbies love to hear your stories of experience, learning and success!

I am 1 year and 2 weeks into my love affair with insulin, I hope it lasts as long as yours.

Peace and love,

Hello Sue. That is a great report. I hope your kidneys and heart are equally healthy. I have used insulin for 62 years and my kidneys and heart are fine but I have occasional problems with my eyes. Little patches of retinopathy show up but after a few weeks they are gone. I do not know why this happens. Hve any of you had this occur? I don't know if this is unusual or not. My doc seems to think it is most unusual.
