| | | Victrectomy next Thursday Wish me luck all. Next Thursday I go in for my eye vacuuming. I'm surprisingly calm about it at this point but I'm sure I'll get more worked up the closer Thursday comes. I think I'll go get an eye patch and play pirate for a week. |

Don't worry. They'll give you an eye patch. The only tough part is finding a pirate costume and parrot to match the royal blue |

Amazing how accepting you get when you have no choice, isn't it? I'll be thinking of you. Remember, it's really nothing to be afraid of these days, they have the entire procedure figured out.
You will be astounded how much simpler it is than you imagined.
I laughed at you saying you would "get a patch" because they will slap one one whether you want it or not. Mine was white and puffy with a hard plastic shield, held on by SUPERTAPE. We are talking tape that would keep the space shuttle on a 747! Bad me. When it really started itching because my eye was watering underneath, I took it off early. No worries. It stuck right back in place with the same tape and the doc was none the wiser

| | | I ran out to get some strips and syringes at lunch one day this week. There was a man at the counter wearing a blue patch taped over his eye. Of course I recognized it and struck up a conversation. This man just came from cataract surgery. I didn't know they gave patches for those. He was looking rather distraught at first, but he was smiling when he left. I suppose it helps to know you are not alone. When I went in, there were 22 surgeries scheduled that day. Buddy next to me had a torn retina. I saw a patch in the cafeteria too.
Don't be shy afterwards. Just practice that aaaargh! |

| | Best of luck on the vacuuming. I suspect many will be looking forward to a picture of that patch when all's said & done

| | I see dead people. John it swirls and moves constantly so it's hard to say. One minute I can see 20/40 and the next 20/100 depending on where the cloud is. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
