I was curious if any of you have this or these. Mine are not getting any worse, just dry. They are hard to notice unless you look real close, and contacts do seem irritating (I have disposable dailys). My eye doc doesn't seem to be concerned about me wearing contacts, but I don't really think I should. I have some new glasses I like a lot, but they provide no sun protection. I guess I need some ugly goggle things.

This condition is supposed to be rare, but as diabetics, we tend to collect a few rare things it seems. Sun, wind and dust tend to bring these on, or make them worse. Any dry eye drops are supposed to help; steroid drops help a lot.

Mine differ in it does not form a full circle and usually takes the form of a coma. Also the inside of the area is crossed with lines that move and change colors. Did someone say mushrooms! Obviously I do not need them for a show.

Ok Jan, this is just getting scary now. Yes, I have this and my opthomologist gave me drops called patanol that helped. Mine usually bothered me when allergy season came around and patanol seems to help. I also use Genteal and that is a lubricant for eyes.

We are both diabetic, blonde, love the outdoors, and I was late getting into the habit of wearing sunglasses. (Plus I don't have a sister and pretend you might be one!)

Do you wear contacts?

No Jan, I don't wear contacts. I have very pale blue eyes and should have protected them years ago from the sun. I am always wearing them now. Kind of like closing the gate after the horse gets out.

I talked to my doctor about this problem with my eyes years ago. Mine were actually very painful. Once I started using moisturizing drops and patanol, I have all but forgotten them and they are not as visible.

I dunno if the betes can cause this, but there is a neo-vascular component. It makes sense to the layman. We can also get neo-vascularization around the cornea, but I've never heard of anyone with that. I only heard about it at a presentation.

I know absolutely nothing about this condition but it just seems like contacts would irritate them to me!

That's a strange condition -- I hope you don't get it often AND you have a sense of humor about it. How annoying!

Thank you. If my eyes feel irritated wearing contacts, I agree I should stick to the glasses. I think the doc said if my eyes don't bother me when wearing the contacts, no damage is being done. I just feel never wearing contacts might be best.

At least there is no pain associated with it yet. Bright things like mostly a white screen will sometimes trigger them. After the first one it was several years before I had another one, but now I get them several times a week sometimes. Only had the wife drive once because of one. The episodes, so far, have not lasted for more than a half hour.

Only responded to your post for two reasons. One the link had a condition I have and I get these bumps on my eyelids. Sometimes the bumps release a fluid which can blur my vision. They started when I wore hard contacts and the fluid would crystallize on the contact. Which meant cleaning the contact. Moved back to Kansas so that and the dust working outside caused me to stop wearing contacts.

I'm glad you responded. Off topic: I love the same music you do . . . those were the days! Freebird and Stairway . . . and whatever else, I already forgot. It's awfully late/early and I'm groggy. I'm very fond of Kansas too.

Anyway, I'm glad there is no pain involved -- I did read about it and was glad to see there isn't supposed to be pain associated. Hope it stays that way. Why did you say YET? Maybe I should read about it again.
