Well, I found out what my problem in the left eye has been for the past few years. I had always thought I had gained too much weight and i had type 2 but the tests were negative. I tested and found slight elevation in blood sugar last year but it was not bad. Then I had an A1C and some other tests of the blood to keep an eye on things which I will continue to do. But on my birthday I was diagnosed with ectasia which is keratoconus after lasik procedure. I had about 7 good years of vision and then "whammo". The keratoconus is a horrible disease and it can affect anyone who has had the lasik procedure. So now I have to go and have a procedure called C3R or Cornea cross linking in an attempt to stop the disease so I can maintain my sight. This is a new treatment and the old treatment has been a cornea transplant. So if I could do it over again would I have lasik.....NO. It seems liks the docs say, "we can give you vision"...but it won't last. Then after they mess you up they give another operation to fix their first mistake. So I will keep checking my blood sugar level and I will keep everyone else updated on this dilemma.
