help please

hello, first post. my uncle has Diabetic Retinophathy and has lost the sight in his right eye. recently the left is giving problems and he has been thru an emergency surgery.
he still has very little sight in his left eye and is very disgusted.
is there anyone who has went thru this and recovered their sight. it would sure help his outlook if he could talk to someone who could relate to his situation and possibly give him hope. i would also ask does anyone know who the best specialist for this problem in the central us?? he would like to get an opinion from someone other than the dr who has been treating him. thank you so much for any help.

I lost almost complete vision in one eye two years ago. A vitrectomy cleared it up nicely. I've had a few minor bleeders since, one this spring that knocked the vision down to 20/60, but it's back to 20/20 again and doc says things look good.

The most important thing is to get his BGs under control. He should have an A1C of less than 6.5%. He can also try avastin shots.

I can't help you with specialists.
