| Update about my retinopathy Well several days ago I made a post on here asking about some blind spots I have in my vision but only being able to see them mainly when I close one eye. Well, it was beginning to stress me out so I went to my Ophthalmologist and told him everything and had a dialaited eye exam as well as showed him were the spots were on a grid. After looking at my eyes he told me allot of potential problems and the problems he saw now. He told me he saw a few microaneurisms, no bleeding or leakage that he could tell. He told me that the blind spots I have seeing was more than likely macular edema. At that point my heart had skipped a beat as he begin to tell me that there wasn't much he could do treatment wise. He also told me he saw what I was seeing and that it is so small he was surprised that I even noticed them. He suggested that I come back in a month and have some sort of enhanced photo's taken of my eyes. Which he thought probably wouldn't reveal much.
Now, I understand that this is a problem caused by my diabetes and that I probably didn't do much to prevent having this problem when I was a teenager but, I am now concerned that even with the best blood sugar levels that this eye disease is going to progress, eventually leaving me completely blind. Based on some of you guys experience what do you think my out look is going to be like since I am beginning to have these problems at such a young age of 25. Even since hearing that I have retinopathy 7 months ago, and keeping a very close eye on my sugar levels, it still seems to be progressing on a monthly basis. Thanks for listening, Your opinions always help so feel free to comment. |
