| | Duck, so how was your eye check up? I have to giggle everytime I leave the eye doc's office, there is a road sign that says "caution, limited vision area". It's for real and has nothing to do with the fact that I can't see where I am going.

I was actually a bit worried...I developed a floater a couple weeks ago, and as far as I know that is a bad sign. So I mentioned that to him, and he said that I am getting older--This happens to everyone, diabetic or not. Also, I think I may have created the floater while working out--Need to breathe better while squatting, LOL.
I think next time I have my eyes dialated, I will ban myself from internet use for three hours afterwards...I misread allllll sorts of stuff while squinting, getting close to the monitor, etc.

| Mine does too but you have to request them, I always ask for a double dose but it still takes awhile to work.

Wow double dose! It take alot to dialate my eyes but one drop of the reverse stuff seems to work immediately...usually by the time I get home I am just fine (doc office only 3 -4 miles away). I am glad it doesn't take longer..hated when they were dialated and couldn't see for hours..

| | I think I'm going to past out now.
Drops don't seem to settle well with me so I went with the Optomap Retinal Exam. No drops, no puff of air, no dialating. Duck you will be very impress with this.
So floaters is bad? I have them every now and then.

So floaters is bad? I have them every now and then. | I had read in various places that floaters can be a bad sign, especially if you have them suddenly and in volume; I have one in my left eye, but I have to note it happened after working out (squatting, very intense) and I may have just strained too much...
The eye doc reminded me I am 32 now and whether or not I was diabetic, "floaters" and worsening vision in general will become a part of my life. But, like I said, he said as far as the retina and blood vessels in my eye, it all looks good so far...
I need to look into Optomap...
Oh, and I spelled "dilated" wrong, apparently. |

| | I have experienced floaters also. My opthamologist said it's not anything to really worry myself about. He also said that if he didn't know me personally, he wouldn't know I have had diabetes for 20+ years by looking at my eyes. So, I must be doing something right, somewhere.

| | By floaters, are you refering to those 50 or so silver spots that "float" around like flying lady bugs?
Is this a diabetic thing? I think my friends think I'm crazy when I try to explain them!
.... btw, I love freaking people out when my eyes are dialated. It will stay like that all day for me and I'll get the funniest looks. Luckily, I live a block from my eye doctor's place so there's no need to drive!

| | | Yes, those are the floaters. it seems that when our sugars go up and down those a little pieces of blood or skin that actually "float" in the liquid solution of hte eye. so, no, you're not crazy, yes they are a diabetic thing, and my eye doctor told me the same thing, that they are just part of being diabetic.
They still drive you nuts though, don't they. lol

| | My concern is that I have a "blue" floater now in my left eye. It's not huge, but when reading something on a white background (like DIABETESFORUMS.com, LOL), I notice it.
I know non-diabetics have these, but as a diabetic I have always been advised to inform the doctor if I had vision changes, so. But, he said all was well, so I'll relax and take comfort in the fact that I am aging.
