I don't know what to make of this...

I've just been told I'm t2, so I don't know a whole lot just yet. I know that diabetes can affect your eyes and I was wondering if anyone who wore glasses had their vision actually improve? I don't know what is happening to my eyes. I've had to wear glasses for the past 25 years and without them I just see the world as one big blurr. Back in the first week in April I had a spell where my eyes would get blurry when I wore them and that went on for a week or so, then it seem to go away. I thought maybe my eyes where just tired so I didn't think to much of it at the time. Then the weekend before Memorial Day it did it again and now I can see better without them. This last week I haven't worn my glasses at all. I just don't seem to need them much anymore. I have an appoinment on Wed. with the eye doctor. Has anyone else had this happen to them? It's really freaking me out.

In the year or so before I was diagnosed my eyes were definitely worse (varying blurred vision) than now (crystal clear vision ), when the sugar has come down. But I can't do without glasses

Apparently, sugar gets into the fluid in the eye and alters its refractive index, so depending on the person (as with everything) when the sugar comes down, the prescription for glasses can change. It will be interesting to see what your eye examination yields

Many of us Type-1's note that we can tell that our sugars are consistently high if our vision gets blurry--What Peter said is correct, glucose can get into either of your two "humors" in your eyes and affect your vision. If you get your sugars under control, your vision typically improves. This is a good sign, Lori!

I was dx'd in January of this year as T2 and when I went to the eye doc's they said that the reason I was having a hard time seeing was that my vision actually improved. Interesting to hear that I'm not the only one. They did say however, that once my sugars stabilized for roughly six week in a row, my vision would return to it's lesser self. What a rip off! Here I thaught something good was going to come of this, only to find out NOT!!!!

Yeah, that's pretty much what my doctor told me the other day, so we're going to wait until my BS's are under control before we go any farther. She didn't find any bleeding or anything else wrong with me.
