| | | In my eye's (enter with caution) I did it! I went for my yearly eye check up at Vision sight and learning center.
Below is a color scan taken of my left and right retina(back of the eye). As you can see there is no bleeding, so.. so far, I'm free of diabetic retinopathy.
Right

| | | Very cool Tony and congratulations.
Was it like this green laser thingy that did it? I had mine done a few months back and it is amazing what you can see. I was clear as well. A few days after, my eye doctor e-mailed me my picture.
Ain't technology wonderful!

| | Glad to hear that your eyes are clear, keep up the great work with your BS control!
Unfortunately my wife isn't so lucky, proliferative retinopathy and macular edema in both eyes. She's currently undergoing focal and peripheral laser treatment...when the vessels aren't hemorrhaging. Luckily there's no retinal detachment...yet. Time will tell.
Maybe I could get the Dr. to email me some pics of her eyes? I'll have to ask when we go in next week. |

| | | Tony, I forgot to ask you; were these pictures from a fluorescein angiogram or were they just straight photos of your retina?
Thanks |

| | Strike,
Sorry to hear about your wife having eye problems. Hopefully the laser treaments will help. Have you heard of a new drug that has been fda approved? I forgot the name of it, but If remember right it is to help treat any eye problems inculding macular degeneration.
The photo's are from optomap. You look straight at a green laser and a picture is taken of the back of your eye.

| | | Tony,
No I haven't heard of any new FDA approved drug for eye problems, but I'll certainly research it. Thanks for the heads up!
Again, congrats on the clean eyes, keep up the great work! |

| | | TONY.... CONGRATS!!!!
I wasnt so lucky but Im still in the Laser process.
Strike,
Tell your wife that she must stay positive. I have the exact same thing. I have gone through alot of Laser in the past few months, about 1500 on each eye. My hemoragging did stop. But I might need another Kenelog on my other eye. My eye site has improved very little, but it has.

| | | Been meaning to ask Almost one year ago, I awoke one morning to find a big ring of floaters in one eye. That is exactly what it looked like, a series of floaters in an almost perfect ring. I called my eye doctor, he gave me a complete eye exam, said it was not diabetes related, but age related. He said eventually gravity would move it down out of the way, but he couldn't do anything. But, it is still in the middle of my eye, I am just so used to it being there, I only notice when I think of it. It is an irritation, but nothing more. I am about due another check up, do I need to see a different eye doctor, has anyone else had this problem?

Are you seeing an opthamologist or just an optometrist? I have floaters from time to time but my opthamologist said it wasn't diabetes related. I guess if he ain't worried, then I shouldn't be. He did tell me at my last visit that I have no signs of the diabetes affecting my eyes and I've had it for 21 years so that's a plus. Just keep an eye (lol, sorry bad joke) on it and if it gets worse, get a second opinion.
BTW, should have mentioned this. My floaters seem to go side to side then up and down and are gone as soon as they arrived.

It was a bit scary as these took up so much of my vision. I have had floaters for years, but nothing like this. My eyesight in this eye has always been very bad, due to an astigmatism (sp?), and this thing has just made it harder to read, etc. Usually the floaters do come and go, not lasting more than a day or two, these have been here almost a year. The funny thing is, although I am always aware of them, they don't bother me that much until I think about them being there.
