How many of us have Glaucoma?

I was jsut wondering how many on the board have glaucoma? I have it in my left eye. Unfortunately, it progressed rapidly for me and I have some visual disturbances in my periphery from it. The pressure in that eye is now controlled and my vision has been stable for about a year now. I'm 35, and was dx'd with cataracts in my mid twenties. I had cataract surgery and an implant in the left eye in november 2003, soon after was when I was dx'd with glaucoma. My brother who is not diabetic also has glaucoma and cataracts at a young age, so did my mother and grandmother so it runs in the family. My eye doc says the number of eye surgeries I've had helped hurry it along...

anway, anyothers with glaucoma and is it controlled with meds?

My opthamologist says it is likely I will develop glaucoma in my right eye. I have alot of pressure built up and we don't know if it is directly from diabetes or the eye injury I suffered 6 years ago. Either way we are watching it now and compare it in 6 months to see if treatment needs to be started.

I was diagnosed with glaucoma before diabetes and am now completely blind in my left eye. I see my specialist every six months and he says my pressure is stable, I worry in case the Glaucoma affects my right eye I don't think I could handle it.

Hi, I also have Glaucoma and have been taking drops in each eye at night for two years. My doctor has taken off of drops and now isn't sure if my Glaucoma is getting worse or not. The problem is I never had a eye exam when I was younger or even in my late 30's so the eye doctor doesn't know if my eye pressure is normal for me or not. He has told me I have large eye cups what ever that means. He wants to stop my drops and then wait 8 months to have another eye exam to see if this condition has worsen.

Rob.
