HbA1c

I just read on a different diabetic forum that a pregnant lady 20w gestation had a fetal ultrasound with diagnosis of thickened right ventricle. She said her HbA1cs was 5.3???

I know the fetus is at risk for neuro and cardiac problems. But if she has been well controlled ??? Unless, I suppose she's had a lot of highs and lows, contributing to an average HcA1c of 5.3. Just seeems strange. And it's scary! I can feel for her.

Keep in mind that with even the best control there sometimes are still complications. Look at those who don't have diabetes and babies still have complications. Some things you just can't control and if God knew it wasn't meant to be he would take them. Same goes for stillborns. Did you ever notice that most of them just aren't right? There is a reason why they pass before being born. It's sad but it can't be controlled. Every baby I had was over 10lbs. My first I didn't even know I had diabetes. My second I was on MDI and my last was on a pump. Each one got easier and ended with my last having no complications but was just a lil on the big side.
