Hello everyone!
I am 7 weeks pregnant with number baby 2, but I have been very nervous about my blood sugars. With my first baby it was much easier to control my blood sugars. I was able to do the first 13 weeks with just diet and exercise. But this time around I had to switch right into insulin. (before this pregnancy i was on lantus and glucovance) It has been hard to keep into the 140 1 hour after meals and 120 2 hours after meals range. I have on occasion found myself around 160 or 180 or I find myself very low and bring myself up. Then sometimes after coming back up from a low I go too high. I am so worried about my babys health. Has anyone else struggled with their blood sugars in the first trimester? Am I being too paranoid?
I think pretty much everyone has to deal with higher numbers during pregnancy...unless you are like me and had serious hyperemesis, where you couldn't keep anything down anyway.
A lot of women have to up their insulin usage during pregnancy.
