Novolog/Lantus Pen Problem

I am new to the pen and I've noticed that after I use it insulin beads up at the tip of the needle. Is this normal? I'm afraid I'm not getting the correct dose.

Thanks!

Hi Chris. This happens to me too. Some people say to just leave the needle in longer, sometimes it works for me, others not. I leave mine in for at least 15 seconds.

happens to me all the time...I don't think you can avoid it. just make sure you prime the pen, and hold it in your arm for 6-10 seconds. I don't think you are getting a incorrect dose.

hi chris and welcome by the way..

used to happen to me all the time when i was on mdi...your inserting a open needle into a cartridge...is going to leak due to not having anything to stop insulin flow through the needle

hi and welcome to the forums
I had that problem also at times. I would leave it in ther for about 5 extra seconds and sometimes I would get the bead and sometimes not
not really sure why it does it but I dont think not getting that little drop is really gonna affect your sugar that much

I called Opticlick and they confirmed what you all said...normal, not enough to mess with my levels.

Does anyone know if the pens are affected by high alitudes? We go to CO a lot and I wonder if I will have problems there. Opticlick didn't have an answer for me.

Thanks!
