Welcome to the forum bowlman.

I follow a low-carb diet and walk 3 to 3-1/2 miles every night for exercise. I stay away from all white breads and eat light wheat bread instead. I very rarely eat pasta, potatoes or rice. I test before and after meals and keep a daily food log of what I've eaten. This way I know which foods my BS can tolerate and which foods I have to stay away from.

Hello Bowlman: It's nice to meet you and Welcome Aboard.

There is info in the Healthy Living Forums that include Diets,
Foods and exercise among other things as you probably noticed.
I eat small portions of normal foods, divided into usually 4 or 5 meals
a day. Hope to see you around. Enjoy.

Are you a Bowler or a Plumber? I like to bowl
occasionally.

As a general rule, you will need to change your diet, increase excercise, and possibly add medication.

The most important thing is that you'll need to make a long term commitment to your health. This means making your personal health a number 1 priority.

I meet with a nutritionist every couple of months. This person has the time to dedicate to analysis of my current eating habits, and provides lots of nutritional information and together we develop a plan of action. To suppliment this, the internet can provide additional nutritional information, and this forum is also a great place to get answers.

Once you have a plan and a commitment, all you have to do is follow the plan and measure the results (bg monitoring and HbA1c). Improved results will inspire you to continue further.
