| | New to the site Just wanted to say hi...I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have been for about 8-9 years. I'm 27 years old and am now finally realizing that Diabetes is no joke and it's a challenge...well to me it is. I don't really know anyone with Diabetes and am here to talk with other people who might have the same fears and problems I have. Would love some advice and feedback. Please help, need people to chat with who share this awful disease!!! :afraid |

| | 24 years and still going here. And that's how long I've had diabetes, my age isn't much more (only 11 months more.) Diabetes is all I know (besides how to make women happy ) Welcome to the site, ask around, and hopefully you find it very useful.

It took me around 28 years to realize what you are realizing now so do not feel bad. As scary as it may be you will not get a handle on it until you face it head on and it sounds like you are ready to do that now. Welcome to the forum.

| | | Welcome to the forum. There are lots of great people and tons of information here. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
I was dx'd three years ago at the age of 40 and every day is a learning experience with this disease. I watched my younger brother grow up with diabetes and thought I knew what diabetes was all about. Boy was I wrong!

| | Welcome - there are many people here with knowledge and experience in many areas. I don't think anyone has all the answers - no matter how long they've been at it. We are all still looking |

| | | Yeah I've pretty much been in denial for 6 out of those 8 years...I would continuously skip insulin shots and just eat whatever I want. The past 6 months I have been working hard with my endocronologist to get tight control on my blood sugars, I guess the insulin to carb ratios that used to work for me don't anymore. I am currently taking 25 units Levemir, and use a 1:7 cab ratio for Humalog. My correction ratio is 1:40. My last A1C was a 10...not proud of that. My major fear is having a low blood sugar and passing out and never regaining consciousness. I am afraid of getting complications and I am afraid to die. Don't mean to depress you but just wonder how everyone else deals with it??? | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
