Getting back to basics

Hi all,
I am a 22 year old diabetic. I have had juvinille diabetes since just before I turned 16. Through some stupid choices I am now trying to relearn and get back to the basics of Diabetes. Currently I use Lantus and humalog for insulin.
I am a canadian and just looking for some help and friends that are going through similar stuff that I am.

A lot of us have been there also. I was 11 when I got diabetes. I went through the teen years and did not have much control. Now 32 years later I have taken control and am doing well. You have taken the first step in that you want to help yourself. Keep on working at it. Itis not easy but the rewards for good control are great.

Welcome

I think it's great you are trying to regain control over this disease ... good for you! It's never too late to do that.

I've had this disease for about 4 1/2 years... and, frankly, it hasn't all been sunshine and light , but I'm coping the best I can. I don't think I have poor control, but things could definitely be better so I know that's something I need to work on too. Probably one of the hardest things about this illness is staying motivated, at least for me... but having good support and encouraging people around definitely helps. This forum has really helped.

Best of luck to you

I have had the big D for over 20 years. After finding this forum and the wonderful people here, I have buckled down and am working hard for excellent control. Not there yet but I have my "family" here to help me.
