new here

Hi everyone
I have been a type 2 diabetic for 1 year and 2 months. I was diagnosed and put on metformin one week before Hurricane Katrina hit my hometown, New Orleans. Evacuating, living in motels, trying to contact my adult children and wondering if I would have a home when this was all over made it very difficult to deal with diabetes. On the positive side I concentrated so much on what to eat, when to eat and walking a mile a day that it actually helped!
People in the different motels pointed me out as that crazy lady who walks everyday! I am home now, all is well. So I am reading and learning as much as I can about this "condition."

Hello LaLady, and welcome. The stress from all you have been through probably hasn't helped any, but I am glad to see you worked through it. This is a good place to be, there is help with about anything that is bothering you.
