Welcome Holly! Glad you found the forum. You'll get lots of great information here.

Does your finacee' take medicines for his diabetes or does he control with diet/exercise?

There's a great book for newly diagnosed T2's (actually any T2 can learn from it), "Type II Diabetes, The First Year" by Gretchen Becker. It has lots of information in it. You might want to look for it at your local Borders or Books-A-Million. It was very helpful to me.

Again, welcome!
Linda

He's lucky in that he takes glucopage (sp ) twice a day I think.
He takes so many pills I can't remember which is what .
We are trying to both lose weight by eatting lowfat/low carbs and more fiber.
Doc says if he can get his weight down we should be able to handle it with diet.
My brother did.
