hi im new here.

i have been sick for a month..constant/headaches and nauseas. I have seen doctors twice and even been to hospital it got so bad. they said i had sinasitis and then another said a virus..wtf?

they put me on anti-biotics, anti inflammatories and painkillers. nothing appened it all got worse.

i am constantly nauseas and dizzy. i8 have almost fainted 3 times. i can tcxoncentrate or get anything done. and im drinking loads of ater.

anyway i went back to another hospital yesterday and they took more tests and said my blood sugar is very high.

i ahve never felt like this in my life and i can tlive like this. im sure i ahve diabetes...but i will know more this afternoon but i am very anxious at the moment.

i just want to feel normal again. does 'insulin' make u feel normal so u can get on with living?

Take a deep breath and wait until the tests get back It may be diabetes and if so the good news is that "Yes", you can take control of it.

Hi Sam, welcome. I've moved your post to its own thread, so more of our members can see it an reply. Sounds like you've been going through a lot lately.

Getting your blood sugars under control will make you feel so much better...and insulin will help give you better blood sugars.

Also, when you're feeling up to it, getting regular exercise and watching your carb intake will also help you get better results.

Look around, ask lots of question...there are many here waiting to help.

Keep us posted on how you're doing.

if it's an insulin deficiencey, then yes, adding insulin and/or meds will bring you back to the land of the living fairly quickly. However there is always a bit of trial and error and a lot to learn about self management. That's where places like this can be invaluable.

Did they take a urine sample yet? The reason I ask was that my doctor had me take one in her office and tested me for keytones. After that test she told me I could drive to the emergency room or she could call an ambulance, I chose to drive

At any rate two days later when I got out I felt like a new person, although I had diabetes, but I felt so much better.

Lets hope it is a bad sinus infection or ear infection as I would rather you had that than diabetes, but if it is, there are a lot of very nice people right here on this board.

Welcome to the forums, if you get a positive diagnosis for diabetes, please don't fret - it can be managed and controlled and you will feel so much better when your blood glucose is controlled. I was diagnosed last Nov'07 and I feel better now that I have in years. A positive diagnosis is by no means the end of the world.

Please do let us know how you get on. You will find this forum to be a great source of information and support, the people here are great.

Let us know what your tests says. It does sound like diabetes. But really, diabetes isn't the end of the world!

Insulin does really make ya feel like a humanbeing again! Once the doses are set right and everything has stabilised, it's even easy to forget diabetes in between tests and injections

ok, again thankyou all so much for the positve comments and support, i am living on my own in a foreign country where english is not spoken so all your words are invaluable. Thankyou.

The specialist is not sure it is diabetes and he is doing some more tests in the next few days...

a urine test was done two weeks ago when i spent a night in hospital... they said it was all fine. but i think they were testing more for travelling diseases.

he says it might be an acute ear infection
but im not sure this can cause:

-constant migraines/headaches for a month
-nauseas for a month
-almost fainting three times
-dry mouth
-constant thirst
-urinating alot, sometimes 3 or 4 times during the night
-unable to concentrate
-unable to do anything
-dizzyness

i'm confused.

Ask the doctor to do an A1C. It should give him the answers you need. It will show your average Blood Glucose levels for the last 3-4 months. You mentioned that you are in a Non-English speaking country. If getting a A1C is not a option you could purchase a Blood Glucose Monitor and Testing Strips at the pharmacy. You do not need a prescription to buy these. If you do this you should check you BG when you get up every morning before any food or anything to drink(Fasting). Then you would need to test after meals (2 hours after taking the 1st bite). Keep a journal of your reading and when they were taken. I always circle my fasting reading. Someone on this forum can help you to understand the reading since they will most likely be in different format than I am used to. If they are high you can show them to the doctor. Good luck. Hi--sure sounds like diabetes to me! I think the suggestion to buy a glucose meter is excellent. What is the language where you are? Perhaps you could track down a diabetic translator here or elsewhere on the web. If it is diabetes, don't stop to feel sorry for yourself--just get on the train! I am Type 1 42 years, but sympathize w/ Type 2s that are scared of insulin/shots. I tell you, though, once you get more in control, you'll feel GREAT! Please keep us informed--although I'm an longtime Type 1, as a new member here I've learned loads! Dottie Love
