Smile New from TX

Hello everyone. I just joined, and wanted to say hi. I'm a type 1, diagnosed when I was 9, and have been using a pump for the past 10 years. I'm currently using a MiniMed Paradigm 522, but am considering changing to the Animas 2020 per my endocrinologist's recommendation. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter!

I'm brand new to the site too and am using the MM 515 but am also looking for pump opinions as I am dur for a new one. I am heading over to the pumping forum now to check it out.

Good luck with your choice.

Why is he recommending a change? Are you unhappy with the 522? Any pump should do a great job if used correctly.

Welcome to Diabetes Forums. Glad you found our site and joined. I don't think we have enough information to give you any thoughts on you pump change. Perhaps you could tell us the reason your endo thinks you should switch.

Welcome

It wasn't so much he was telling me to switch, it was more like, "when you're looking for a new pump, there are some other good options out there, and for my two cents, I like the Animas". He also mentioned some dislike, both on his part, and from some of his other patients, that MiniMed has become much less patient-care oriented, and more business minded (his words were "sell-sell-sell"). I am sure this is only his limited experience, and I have always had good interactions with MiniMed, but I do think those types of things are important when I choose my company. Also, just as an aside, I am about to begin my second year of medical school, and I want to keep my eyes and ears open about those sorts of things so I can make appropriate and conscientious recommendations to my own patients one day.
