Howdy

Hello,
My name is Mary Anne Caudill. I am new to this board. I've had Type I diabetes for about 9 years now. I used an insulin pump in 2000. It was a Minimed 508. I didn't care for it at all. I thought it actually made things harder. Now, I have the Paradigm, MiniMed 722 and I LOVE it. My insurance won't pay for the REAL-Time System yet.
I am referred to as a 'brittle diabetic." I think it's because I have so many other autoimmune problems. My blood sugar could be over 500 and within 4-5 hours it will drop to less than 50. I end up cheeking my blood sugar about every two hours.
I have severe gastroparesis and must get most of my nutrition through a jejunostomy tube. The tube comes in so handy too, because I frequently get dehydrated and I can run a liter of gator aide through it in a few hours. I had an infusaport for awhile but I ended up with bacteremia and they had to take it out. I now have a double lumen PICC in my right arm,
I'm interested in finding out if others struggle with their diabetes like I do.
Please drop me a line,
Mary Anne Caudill

Welcome Mary Anne. Can't give you any advice as I'm T2, not on insulin, but I did want to welcome you to the forums!

Hi Mary Anne & Welcome. Nice folks and tons of valuable information to be found here.

I'm sorry to read of your troubles. I'm a type 1 pumper and fortunately for me, I have no complications.
