Thumbs up Hello everyone

I have been lurking here for a few days. I thought I would say hello. Diabetes really sucks and I would not wish it on anybody. Since I was diagnosed I have been paying more attention to myself and the things I do to myself. I am eating better, I have much more self control. I elliminated soda and sweets. I am more active. I have lost a little weight. I have alot more energy and just plain feel better. I was continuing to have high sugars until I finally broke down and went to the dentist. I had not been since Reagan was in office. I had advanced Periodontal disease and now that I have that cleared up I feel incredible. My sugar readings are better than ever. I feel great. I am getting married in October. My fiance has been with me since I was diagnosed and is very suportive and keeps me in check.
I am so glad to hear sourdough bread is off the hook. Pizza, cereal, fried wontons and egg rolls make my sugars rage. I am so glad I have found this forum. I am glad ther are others...

Welcome Rich, glad you found the forums. The world is full of diabetics, but the forum is full of diabetics who are taking charge of their health...its made a big difference in the way I take care of myself. Hope you post often.

Glad you have a nice lady in your corner to help you out. Not sure how I would have managed w/o my husband.

If you read enough of the posts you'll see so many here living relatively normal lives with diabetes. It gets easier as time goes on.

Rich,

Welcome to the forums, glad you found us. It's a great place for information and the people here are always ready to help and support. As Linda says, in time you'll find that you can live a normal life and things do get much easier.

I was diagnosed just before you in Nov'07, I have found the people here have really helped me, also check out a book "The First Year: Type 2 diabetes by Gretchen Becker", it's very informative and easy to read.

Visit often, ask lots of questions, you are among friends who understand. Good luck with your Wedding, sounds like you have a great woman at your side.

Welcome here, Rich!!!

I have several horses sired by a stallion named "Big City Bucks", but I'm betting there's no relation

Congrats on your progress and improved numbers
