blood sugar level suddenly out of control

My last A1c score was 6.2 (May 08') I am a type 2 diagnosed about 13 year ago. I keep my blood sugar levels under control (I am very sensitive and if they get away from even a little, I can tell). My Endo has me on 3 different meds to control diabetes. They are: Glucophage, Januvia, and Lantus.
Here is my problem (can't say it is the first time, but certainly the worst): Suddenly I don't feel all that well and my b.s. numbers are in the 300s. I haven't been able to get them below 211 untill midmorning today (194). This started Sunday and I feel like **** - dizzy, tired, fuzzy brained... What the heck is happening?? I'v done nothing different in my life. Any thoughts on this? Or should I be rushing to the hospital?

Welcome rhinde! Your blood sugars may be responding to the physical stress you're experiencing (virus/infection). I know when I had shingles recently, my levels went through the roof...and stayed there for several days until I started feeling better physically, then the blood sugars seemed to follow suit. You will feel bad physically with numbers that high. I remember feeling very "foggy" prior to diagnosis.

Since you've had this for several days w/o any improvement, i'd urge you to call your doctor for an appointment or advice, as the weekend is coming up and you don't want to end up at the ER. I'd call soon, before the offices close for the day and asked to be worked in tomorrow. If they can't do this, you may want to go to the ER. You don't want to keep #s like that longterm....and you may have something going on physically that may need antibiotics or some form of treatment.
