Hi,
Home is Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
I'm on Avandamet and holding my own (at almost 65). I've come to this forum looking for some help/advice/suggestions for my wife. Why is she not doing this herself? Hates email and computers in general and that's the business we are in, I.e. computer software
She's been on an Animas IR 1000 pump for 4 1/2 years and the pump is starting to have hissy-fits.
When doing the bolus at meal-times there are many times when she gets an occlusion error and priming is getting harder and harder.
Of course the pump is out of warranty and it seems Animas doesn't really have an upgrade path. Insurance paid for the pump but for a replacement we are on our own. She's coping with it but has many frustrating moments and I feel helpless.
I'll browse the forum some and post some questions re "how long should a pump last" and perhaps "alternatives to Animas" in a more appropriate section.
Sorry to have this be such a longwinded hello.
Heinz
