Smile *waves* New Type 1.5 here

Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for about a week now and thought it was time to create a login and say hi. I'm a 31 year-old female.

I was originally diagnosed with Type 2 in May of this year. All this year I've been feeling pretty bad and finally went to the doctor in May. I walked in to the doctor's office at 391. He immediately shot me with insulin and later I was up to 441. So off to the hospital I went. I guess I should mention that I am of average height and weigh about 110 now. I've lost 20 pounds this year.

They decided to put me on metformin (that is an evil drug, btw). It seemed to work somewhat but I wasn't able to get great control.

Also for the past year my husband and I were trying to have our second baby. Guess we know why I couldn't get pregnant. (First pregnancy I had GD.)

In all of this my ob/gyn is sending me to an ob/gyn that specializes in diabetes. I walked in and the doctor looked at my c peptide results and my body and said I am not a type 2. She is calling me a type 1.5 now and put me on insulin.

So that is why I'm here. I started looking up forums and insulin pumps and found this place. I just wanted to say hi and looking forward to getting info from this site.

Hi and welcome. It could be the reason that you and your husband couldn't conceive was like you said. Me and my husband also tried for a few years and couldn't conceive and then we found out I had insulin dependant diabetes. Although my husband also has a low count so that may have also contributed.

It is good that you have got your diagnosis sorted out. As a matter of interest, is there any T1/T1.5 family history?

Welcome to the forums .

Hello Amy and welcome to DF. Always a pleasure to meet another T 1.5. Adults commonly get misdiagnosed at T2 simply because of a label. Glad to see that you got sorted out.

Are you seeing a GP or an Endocrinologist?

Still trying to get the hang of posting...

I'm actually seeing an ob/gyn that specializes in diabetes. (My husband and I were trying to have a baby). The one who originally diagnosed me was by GP.

T2 is all over my family. My grandmother's sister is the only one we know of that has T1.
